Dark Cloud Hints for PS2

-Defeating Bosses

Dran (Divine Beast Cave)
Use Xiao to shoot him. When he is hit, switch to Toan and attack with a sword. May take a while.

Masterutan (Wise Owl Forest)
Use Goro and corner him, and keep attacking until he is dead. Another option is use Toan. Run up to him, and get him to swing. When he is dizzy, use a charge attack.

Ice Queen Saia (Shipwreck)
Alternate between Xiao and Ruby. Hide behind columns to avoid getting hit with ice blasts. Shoot in between attacks, until it has no effect, than switch. Takes a helluva long time, but its fairly easy to do.

King's Curse (Sun and Moon Temple)
Use Ungaga To clear the wind around him, then, switch to Toan, and attack once. When shielded by wind, allow him to get close to you to clear it. Otherwise, you would waste weapon's HP.

Miotaur (Moon Sea)
A real easy boss if u know what to do. Use Osmond to shoot at him. When he's drinking form the barrels, switch to Toan, and attack. Don't let him drink, he will try to several times. Using Ungaga instead of Toan also works.

Dark Genie (Gallery of Time)
Dark Genie attacks in 3 phases. In the first phase, his hand reaches out of the ground, It's easy to avoid. The hand is your target. You can use any char, though I find it easier to use those that dont shoot, primarily Goro. The eye on the hand reveals what attribute you should use. However, if you don't wanna constantly change attributes, choose none, and attack. The damage will still be taken away. In the second phase, the Genie attacks with a beam. Here, you need to lock on with a shooting char, and attack at the same time as him. The final phase is when the Genie transforms. Here, I'd also recommend using someone that shoots. The Genie will first attack with a beam. When he stops, and lowers his head, is the time to strike. Shoot once, and the Genie will use an easily avoidable stomping attack. Once again, shoot. Genie will repeat the stomp. If you can keep this up, the Genie will not use the beam. Yuor biggest problem here is the two monsters that walk around. I found it simpler to avoid them, rather than attack. In addition to all this, during the first 2 phases, the Genie will use some sort of a windlike blast. I don't know exactly how to avoid this, but if you use stamina drinks, it can't hurt you.

-Suggestions

If you get Steve slingshot for Xiao, he will talk and give you hints on how to defeat enemies. Works only when locked on the enemy.

If you're bad at fishing, sell your bait in a shop (any shop works). Its worth a good deal of money you can use to buy items you need. You can also sell other items you don't need.

When in Norune Village, don't complete Gaffer's Buggy for a while. That way, Mayor will keep giving you the items you need. Store them in Hag's house, and the Mayor will give you more. When Gaffer's Buggy is complete, Mayor will stop giving you items.

Build Pike's house before building Gaffer's Buggy. That way, Pike will help Gaffer put up the sign, and Gaffer won't break his back. He will then sell more items.

To avoid having half your money taken if you die in a dungeon, buy Gold Bullion with it. It costs 1000, and sells for 1000.

Page 34 in the instruction manual shows what a complete Sun Giant looks like. Not especially nescessary if you know what parts names stand for. You will need to properly build the Sun Giant to advance in the game.

To get around the town faster, enter the Georama mode. Point to the place you want to go, and press Select. May not work on all areas, so you may need to "teleport" somewhere close.

If you exit a dungeon level, it will look different when you enter it again.

To get Abs, go to the back area of the level 10 in the Wise Owl Forest. There, you will get 24 Abs for each kill. Switch back and forth from the regular dungeon and the back area, and the enemies will reappear.
