Manhunt , Rockstar's next game will be cute :P

Have you ever had dreams about grabbing a plastic bag, sneaking up on an unsuspecting victim, wrapping it around his head, beat the crap out of him and then snapping his neck? No? Well then what the hell have you been doing your whole life?

If you answered Yes to the above question, then Manhunt is the game for you.
From Rockstar North (formally DMA Design) the creators of Max Payne, and....erm, some other game, can't quite think of the name, something about cars and guns, Nah It'll come to me later ¬_¬

This game is no nonsence, no Cut Scenes of Final Fantasy proportions, no lenghty story setting and breaks like Metal Gear Solid, the main scene is at the begining, you are shown you character James Earl Cash, a convict excecuted on Death Row, miraculasly given another chance after his death (faked with sedatives) by Lional Starkweather, the mysterious 'Director'

Starkweather makes a living from his Snuff movies, and guess what? You are his new leading man.

You are trapped in a run down city owned and operated by Starkweather called Carcer City, and as luck would have it, the City is full of gangs employed by The Director for the sole purpose of killing you!

Althrought Carcer City are cameras where Starkweather watches his movies come to life, speaking though an earpiece you have he directs you though the opening section by telling you what to do, and then your off, Killing people as gruesomly as possible too make him happy.

There are 4 types of kill,
1. Normal (Basically no stealth involved, run at them and start beating the crap out of the 'Hunters' with whatever is in you hands at the time

2. Hasty (Stealth- Sneak up on a victim with a weapon and hold X or Square for 1-3 seconds before letting go

3. Violent (Stealth- Sneak up on a victim with a weapon and hold X or Square for 3-5 seconds before letting go

4. Gruesome (Stealth- Sneak up on a victim with a weapon and hold X or Square for 5 or more seconds before letting go.

(Each 'Hasty', 'Violent' and 'Gruesome' come with a grainy blurred video of the 'Excecution' seen as The Director would, and some of them can be pretty nasty (i.e Baseball bat, Glass shard, and as explained in the opening to this review, Plastic Bag)

If ther Director is pleased he will sometimes congratulate you, if you kill someone normally he will occasionaly call you a pussy, and some other things to warrent the 'M' (18+) Rating the game has.

Also those of you thinking you will get though the game easily using it's seclection of guns..... Good Luck, it's a while before you even get a gun (Nail Gun) and even then there isn't much ammo, you will soon learn to trust your radar, to spot the Hunters, and using bricks and bottles as a diversion to sneak up on them.

Another good feature of the game is it's compatibility with the USB Headset, with this on, the Directors voice is channeled to that, so you hear what Cash hears, also, the microphone can be used to cause distractions by speaking into it.

I could talk about this game all day, I love playing it (and no one even start going on about the fact that I am not even old enough to play it ¬_¬)

But I suppose I will end my Review by saying:
If you like a challenging game that will grip you till the end, then buy Manhunt (or get someone else to if your not old enough)
If you prefer cute games, with faeries, and magic, then play sodding Harry Potter and dont even look at the box for this.

In closing, I give this game a 10/10
