Game: Prince of persia: The sands of time
Console: Playstation 2, Gamecube, X-Box
Background on the game
For those who have never heard of this game before
The game began in 1989, created by Jordan Mechner...the game took place in the magical and mysterious land of persia, you took control of a prince, who had to escape a well guarded and highly trapped labyrinth, to save his beloved princess frokm the eveil Vizier Jaffar.
In 1993 the prince was back in The prince of persia 2: The shadow and the flame.
And now 10 years later we get the prince of persia: The sands of time.....
The graphics
The graphics for this game are exellent..although not comparing up ot games such as Final Fantasy 10, they are still some of the best around for a game like this.
Although their are some flaws, as most games have in graphics, they are unnoticable unless your inches from your screen.
The gameplay
The gameplay...unlike ost it isnt all hack, slash, hack,s lash, hack, slash...
Although the fight scenes can get quite repetetive at points.
But a combination of puzzles, some harder then other, makes up for that.
And lets face it, the prince can do things that ponce Neo has to flip in bullet time to do.
Running up and along walls enables you to reach places you cant normally get too.
You can slip into temp slow motion, but it isnt really needed, and the ability to rewind time when you die lets you have another go at those deaths that usually anger you, forcing you to turn off the game not being nothered to do it
And springing up and down walls lets you reach those high places.
The range of puzzles is great, some reaching as high as the rooftops to open doors, enable lifts, move walls etc..
Conclusion
In conlusion, this is a well designed game with plenty of action,
Some deaths are pretty stupid though, you call fall off not so high drops and stil die when you land and although the game will get boring after three or four turns round, it is still good enough for you prince of persia fans,
For prince of persia fans this is definatly one to add to the collection,
Those who havent really heard of the game but like the occasional puzzle, i may suggest renting the game first.
I give ths game an 8/10
