| || The Last Stand... || [Scene] The scene opens in The Mirage hotel/casino. The ruckus is almost unbearable. The weeping of the losers, the cries of cheer for the winners, and the silence of the man dressed in the black shroud. The bottom of his shroud slides the ground like silk on a river bed. An elderly man with a Hawaiin shirt on lets out a wild cheer and throws a few chips up into the air. They hit Sutton and fall to the floor. The elderly man turns to get his chips and lets out a barely audible shriek. He backs into the table, knocking over an enormous mountain of plastic coinage. Sutton grips on the top of his cane and bends down, picking up a single chip. The camera changes position and faces Sutton. Josh looks down at the chip then up to the camera. His eyes have a dark aura underneath them. He has a slight appearance of the undead. He nods to the old man and strides off. He walks up to the bar area and sits down. The bartender approaches. Bartender: What'll you have? Sutton: Wild Turkey, on the rocks. [Scene] The bartender sits a glass in the middle of the counter and retreats to his liquor stand. He returns with the large bottle of whiskey, first filling the glass with three cubes of ice. The liquor pours smoothly and the image brings a smile to Sutton's grotesque face. The bartender starts to walk off but Sutton grabs his sleeve. Sutton: Leave the bottle... [Scene] The bartender does so, leaving Sutton in peace. Josh takes a long drink and sits quietly for a moment. Sutton: Keyser Soze... You seem to have this outlandish idea in your head that you've already won this match. I will admit, you have placed me in an unbearable position. But I can assure you, I'm no where near check mate. [Scene] Josh smiles grimly over his glass. Sutton: Tell me, Soze... How does it feel to know that you failed to 'soften' me up before the big dance? I mean, you did it with no commitment and all conviction. There was no kissing... No foreplay... Not even a date. You simply tried to fuck me. That's something that I'm going to remember walking into this one. [Scene] Sutton finishes off his drink, promptly pouring another. He is mute for a few seconds as he tops off the glass. Sutton: Soze, you speak so highly of yourself. And I don't blame you... I mean... There's no one else to read your eulogy. You've driven everyone away... Sutton: Your friends... Matt Helms... You no longer have the strong backing that stood at your side. You're half the man you used to be. You've sunk down to the lowest form of life... Using innuendos to plead your case. Sad... Keyser... Very sad. Who's next? Who the fuck will you push away next? Your little slut, Xstacy? Let's face it, Keyser, your only 'comrade' is Drayton MacPhereson, and we've seen how much he cares for you... That's right Keyser... You've never spoke the words 'I quit'... But your good pal Drayton was right there to call the match off when you were knee-deep, wasn't he? Some friend... Sutton: Something you've failed to comprehend though, is the fact that unlike Joshua Payne, I don't have to make you quit. I don't have to make you tap that fucking mat in retreat. I simply have to beat you until you can stand no more. And Keyser... In a week's time... I will do just that. [Scene] Sutton pulls out the chip from earlier and flips it onto the bar. Sutton: I've seen men and women alike throw their lives away with these plastic things... But unlike them... I need only one... This match we tread into is the biggest craps shoot of both of illustrious careers. I throw this chip into the middle Keyser, with no regrets mind you... I'll bet against you... Sutton: Lady luck will turn her back on you, Soze. You're destined for a repeated performance of the other night... You're destined to put it all on the line and bitch out as you once again throw snake eyes... And when you do, I'll be the to pick up your winnings... I'm dying for a taste of that Alpha title... This is Sin City after all, and I'm ravenously lusting for the gold... Sutton: Keyser Soze... On Wednesday, when the water hits and the pain surfaces.... there will be no where for you to go, but beneath the misery bred currents of my undertow... [Scene] Sutton grabs the chip and flips it into the air. It disappears behind the bar. Sutton smirks. Sutton: So Soze... Look into my eyes... Look into the eyes of a desperate man. [Scene] The cameras zoom in on Sutton's eyes as the scene begins to fade out... Black. |
