|| The Life of a Franchise ||

[Foreward] Remember when you were impressed? Remember the long ago when the outcomes of matches actually meant something? Do you remember the tradition of professional wrestling? Back in the days of glory when guys didn't know what they were going to do when they stepped out through that curtain and took the long walk down the aisle? In the way back when nothing was over-scripted... Nothing broke kayfabe. Now everything is out in the open and this sport is slowly dying. It needs to go through its days of replenishment. And I, Shane Douglas, am the man to lead the pack through into this new era. Trust me, follow me, and no man shall be... left behind.

[Scene] The camera is tilted to the floor, slowly panning up and to the side. Shane Douglas comes into view, his head tilted back and a cocky smile spread across his smug face. The bright golden shirt hanging on his torso illuminates in the dimly lit room, almost as if it were glowing. He clears his throat and leans against a pillar to his right, the smile never disappearing.

"National Wrestling Enterprises, eh? So it seems I've finally found a stomping ground worthy for 'The Franchise'. And what the Franchise means by that is this; the industry is dying. That's plain and simple to the eyes of anyone who knows even a smidge about pro wrestling. The fanatics are piss-poor tired of seeing the same bullshit week in and week out. But it's okay. Everything is alright, because Shane Douglas has come to save the day. No longer will the fans be induced to boring five minute matches that mean nothing. Because, with the Franchise, you get all or nothing.

[Scene] Shane's smile fades a bit as he crosses his arms and begins to pace slowly between the two pillars. Douglas stops moving half-way through the pillars and turns to face the camera again. He has a bit of an irritated look upon his face now.

The one thing that The Franchise cannot put his finger on is, what the hell is up with this booking? What does the Intercontinental title mean to a World-Class athlete like myself? Should the Franchise even prepare to dirty his hands with this match? You see, when you're the Franchise, two things come natural. Being with beautiful women and pulling down World titles. When I say that it's great being me, I mean that it's GREAT being me! What The Franchise is trying to say here is; although this is a chance for me to legitimize a title that's been worthless for years, my mind focus is on the big battle royal main event for the biggest prize in the NWE. For you brain dead twerps out there, it's the World's Heavyweight championship. Not only the richest prize in the NWE, but in the World. Nothing feels greater than holding that fifteen pounds of solid gold, not even the touch of a warm, vivacious vixen. Speaking of vivacious....

[Scene] A golden hand slides onto Shane's shoulder and stands at his side. It's independent beauty Alexis Laree wearing a skin tight black halter top connected to golden leather pants. She drops down to her knees in front of Shane, rubbing his leg provacatively.

What can I say? To women, I'm like a drug. They can't get enough. Men envy what I have, while their children look up to me as their hero. But envy isn't the thing these "men" I'm facing next Monday need to worry about. Because as sure as I stand here, I realize one thing. I am by far the better man. I will out-wrestle, out-brawl, and out-think each and every one of them. While they're bashing each other senseless inside the cage, I'll be biding my time and picking my shots from behind. They will learn humility and then they will learn defeat as the Franchise goes on to become the Intercontiental champion, not by choice, but the champion all the same.

[Scene] Douglas gently strokes Alexis' hair, keeping his eyes locked on her. As a few seconds pass his gaze returns to the camera, the smile from earlier returned.

I'm not normally a betting man, but I will take suckers' for their money. You can take it to the bank that this is indeed a fact. On Monday, each and every one of you will find your asses handed back to you.... FRANCHISED! Let's go, Alexis.

[Scene] Alexis gets to her feet as she trails Douglas out through a set of steel double doors. The cameras lose sight of them and begin to fade out....
