| || Life Eternal... || A warm summer breeze covered me momentarily as I sat upon my porch, deep in thought. Thousands, nay, millions of outcomes raced through my head. What if I beat Adam Law? What if... Adam Law beats me? How exactly will the aftermath transpire? Will a rift grow in between us? Will our bond become stronger? One must look into the future spectrum of things from time to time, otherwise he lacks ambition to carry himself further. Well I have seen into the future and most of Adam Law's predictions proved true. There will be a handshake... There will be a show of respect between the two battled-tested athletes... There will be a man's hand raised in victory... But that man will not be Adam Law... Oh no... It will be Josh Sutton... Going back to ambition... Before this match had set the stage, I lacked even an ounce. I had no will to move forward any longer... My will, I guess you could say, eroded. It felt as if I were stuck in a deep, dark hole... Nothing around me... No way to grip onto the smooth surface... But just as all hope was receding, a rope fell from the Heavens. At the other end, up above me, I could make out a familiar face. I worried not about trust and latched myself on. He pulled me to the surface... Adam Law pulled me... to the surface. To clarify, Adam Law has given me new wind to add to my sails. The old ambition has filled with in me, even more so. Critical error on his part... I must now dig trenches with my feet and push with velocity unseen before... I must succeed... There's really no other choice. I looked up to the sky... The clouds were overshadowing the sun... Sometimes one could find it very relaxing to sit in this environment. But I wasn't feeling very comfortable. I had my hand hovering above my eyes, looking... Looking for Adam Law on the egotistical cloud nine... Ironically enough, he was no where to be found, proving that he, like others, is full of undigested bullshit. Sutton: Let's go ahead and get one thing straight right off the bat, Mr. Law. This isn't the XWF. I'm not Vic Slater or any of the other fall-shorts from that region. In my early career here in RWN, I made it my goal to embarass XWF, which I did time and time again... I annihilated TJ Codair... Had my way with Wolf Hunter... Handed Vic Slater his ass on a silver platter... Three of XWF's best in a matter of two months. So let's just go ahead and throw the XWF out of this f-cking equation. I pulled a cigarette from my shirt pocket, taking my time to light it. It felt good just to taste the filter. Sutton: It comes down to this very simplistic fact, Adam. This isn't about CHZ... This isn't about friendship or respect. This is about your dreams and my accomplishments: Your dream is to capture what I've already accomplished. This title... It means the world to me... And without it, I'm nothing. Adam Law, you have to go deep down within and try hard to understand that. You have to accept the fact that you're never going to be the crown-bearer... At best you'll be the second sword... I struck a match and quickly brought it to the end of the cancer stick, inhaling the first of many drags. Sutton: But don't feel as if I'm cutting you short, Adam. I would be absolutely lying out my ass if I claimed not to be a little fearful. You've accomplished massive goals in a short amount of time. You've ran through competition like Denny's runs through hotcakes on an early Sunday morning. That's why you're here... You've proven that you're the second best that RWN has to offer. You've proven that you have what it takes to step into the ring with me. Don't misunderstand... I fear nothing of you physically... It's your legacy that sits on your shoulders that intimidates me. However, any man can be broken, Adam, at any time. Sutton: Adam... I'm asking... begging... demanding you bring everything in your arsenal at me on the twelth... Bring your brains... Bring your brute... Bring your adrenaline... Bring every f-cking ounce of will inside... Because it's going to take just that to muster the courage to walk down that rampway... I know because I've been there before. You claim to deny others' advice... Take heed of that, Law... [Scene] I puffed a final hit off my cigarette and tossed it to my feet, stamping it out. I wondered momentarily if Adam Law would be in that same vulnerable situation in our meeting... Would I simply stomp the life from his damned body? Sutton: You have, in your possession, Adam Law...The key to the World. A key to the contendorship for the RWN title. You've shown courage in hastily opening the door. But it's deep and dark inside. You can feel the heat of the torches on the wall... But at the same time you can feel the damp air around you. You're walking down in a labyrinth... It's easy to get lost, so don't go wandering. You stay on the path... You walk with compassion in your heart. With confidence in your mind... You come to the chamber... A chamber you've long awaited for over a month now. The key fits... You turn it... Before you is a room lined with gold... Up ahead you see another chamber and you skillfully make your way into the room. You're terrified to find a dragon awaiting your presence... He stares down at you with his blazened-ruby eyes and scoffs... Smoke folds out from beneath the clinches of his jaws... You start to have second doubts and find yourself slowly back-pedaling to the previous chamber. But you've awoken the dragon... What can you do? Run? Fight? Try to be civilized and reason? Which will deliver you to the promised land? All of these run through your head... The desire to find out what lies beyond the dragon digs at your mind... You decide to fight... And you overcome the dragon after a skillful fight but it was not without consequence. You suffered a massive wound to your chest... You're bleeding but your desire still lingers ahead of intelligence. You venture on to the door beyond the slain beast and hesitantly open it. Another set of obstacles forbid you from going further. A pit lies just ahead with several stone blocks as your only way to cross. Do you jump across? Or do you fall from grace to the abyss below? You decide you've come this far and it's simply too late to turn back... It's now or never... You take your time and move across the rocks... You can feel tension cracking the concrete beneath your weight but you worry not. You make it to the other side and shove the key into the slot on the door. It opens without a hitch... You stop, looking at the sight before you. At the edge of the room, sitting at a throne is the Devil himself. You envy and covet what he has, thus continue on. You come to him with absolute courage. The challenge was made with no word exchange. You give it your all... Nothing seems to work. The devil simply toils with you, laughing at your meager attempts. You feel yourself begin to tire... The wound is bleeding at a much greater density now... You can feel your heart beating with desperation inside your chest. Time seems to slow down to nothingness, and just before you fall... Just beyond the devil you catch a glimpse of something golden... The one thing you've come for... The Holy Grail... It glimmers and your hand reaches out for it... Nothing. You fall to the ground, taking your last thoughts and breath to remember one thing... You tried... but were forced to give up. It was all in vain... In the end, the Devil still won... And the Holy Grail remained in it's resting place. Sutton: The dragon represents your win to become #1 contendor... The wound represents your build-up of over-confidence. The pitfalls... They represent the roads you've taken to confrontation. The devil represents me... And the Holy Grail represents something you...will...never...have. Sutton: In one story, I read you your life... and your last rites... Now that the eulogy has subsided, it's your time to face the truth... Adam Law... On the twelth when the water hits and the pain surfaces, enemies or not, there will be no where for you to go, but beneath the blood red currents of my undertow... And that my friends... is... the end. F A D E O U T |
