1.Who are the band members: Currently It is myself
doing all of the guitars , bass and vocals, and Derik Roddy on drums, I recently let the
bass player go becasue I thought that I could keep the recording tighter by doing it all
myself. He is not
bad at all, I just feel more comfortable doing it myself.
2.How did you got the name and what does it means: I just chose the name because I think that the lights are vey beautiful and still very chaotic and powerful all at once. That is kind of the way I feel about the music we play. Even though it is very fast and brutal to me it is still very serene. The name simply means Northern Lights.
3. What music still are you playing and compare it to some similar bands:We just play of what I think is between death thrash and black, I don't want to group it into a genre and try to classify it as something. we have been compared to all of the above styles. As long as the people like it they can call it whatever they want, if not oh well.
4.What are your favorite bands: I listen to so many styles and bands there are really to many to name but as far as metal bands I listen to on a regular, I like bands like VADER, AUTUMN LEAVES, NEGLECTED FEILDS, MARDUK, DARK FUNERAL, and ANGEL CORPSE, there are many many others but it would take forever to name them all.
5.What is your opinion about underground and commercial
music scene:I think right now the scene is on an incline as to a few years back it
seemed to really be lagging. It will never fade away becasue there are too many fans and
bands out there, someone is always going to like this style. I really don't keep up with
the whole mainstream world, although there are a few
bands that I like I don't find myself following the whole thing that much. I say to each
his own.
6.What was your biggest success: I don't think that there is a single success that is the greatest. I really like the fact that we have released two self financed CDs and did a great deal of merchandising and sold so many things. We have like 10 comp CDs out with a bunch of labels. I really just enjoy all of it and I hope that it keeps growing.
7.How many concerts did you have and by your opinion what was the best:We really don't play live shows due to the fact that I live in Maryland and Derik lives In Florida, we really only get together when we need to record a CD or Song etc. The music we play is really fast and somewhat technical, so I wouldn't want to try to get together at the spur of the moment just to play a show. I have tried to get many local drummers to step in but the music is so fast that none of them can do it. I like the drums to be really clean and accurate, I guess some would say Im too picky but I have a certain respect for my music and I would not want to embarrass my self or the band by playing a half assed show. If we get picked up by a label and a real tour was offered I may try to get a band together and do it, but as for local shows not to many people turn out and that is allot of work to play for 20 people or so.
8. What is the favorite song that you made and why:I think my favorite song is called the storm, I think t is just the most energetic song we have, I kind of adopted it as the whole theme to the last CD. I really enjoy all of our songs but I think I like that one the most.
9.Were you on some radio or TV show: We are on a ton of radio show all the time so Its hard to say. If you could remember the name of it I could probably remember.
10.What's your opinion about underground and commercial metal scene:There will always be those fools in the underground scene that want it to remain underground for only the "true" so called fans but to me that is just really stupid. There are too many bands out in the scene right now with so much talent and so much more deserving than all of these mainstream bands who are getting rich. Why shouldn't some of the metal bands make a good living at what they do, just like any other music, Although I don't see this style going mainstream any time soon, I wouldn't mind seeing that happen at all. maybe all of those bands want to go on living barely getting by but I certainly don't. It would really be nice to do something you like and get paid well for it, epical when the music is really deserving of it.
11. Do you have support of your local fans:We have support of fans everywhere, there are allot of local people that support us as well, and buy all the merchandise and give us great compliments.
12. Any plans for the future:As of right now we are recording our third CD, Plans for release are in early 2000. I am talking to a couple of labels right now and if they decide to release it we will have to wait and see how long, but if I realize it, it will be early 2000. We have recently completed 6 tribute compilations for dwell record also. Those of which are DIO, BLACK SABBATH, MORBID ANGEL, KREATOR, SLAYER, JUDAS PRIEST.We also have brand new shirt design out and more to follow. we are very busy with allot of stuff right now.
