2.Tell us little about your name and what does it means:Thanatos is an ancient Greek word for "death" or "god of death"
3.What is the music stile that you are playing and compare it to some similar bands:We play a mixture of brutal death metal and aggressive thrash...somewhere in between old SLAYER,old DEATH and MORBID ANGEL.We try to create our own sound and we try not to sound like a million other bands.
4.Tell us what are your favorite bands:SLAYER,MORBID ANGEL,INFERNAL MAJESTY,NILE,ANGEL CORPSE, MONSTROSITY,DEATH,CELTIC FROST ,HELLHAMMER,DIMMU BORGIR,old CRADLE OF FILTH,HATE ETERNAL and shitload more
5.Your opinion about
underground and commercial metal scene:Well, I've been active in the underground
scene for 15 years,there are a lot more bands now that in the early 80's, too many bands I
think...but as long as bands,fans and fanzines will continue to support eachotherthe
underground will remain a strong force.Sometimes I'm a bit bothered by certain people
those people are a cancer in the scene.Fortunately most people in the scene really care
about metal and that's cool.the commercial scene ai all around us, you can't ignore it,
but I try to concentrate on my own music and my
own scene.
6.Your biggest success :Oh fuck, so many cool things happened, releasing our first record, playing in Portugal in front of 1.000 maniacs without having released any albums in 1989, a couple of great shows with bands like KREATOR, NAPALM DEATH and SEPULTUA...My personal highlight was our small European tour in 1991, we had a fucking great time and all kinds of crazy stuff happened! too much to mention!
7.The best concert you played on:I think we played about 100-120 shows in the late 80's/ early 90's, most gigs were pretty cool, and some sucked...i think our first show in Portugal in 1989 is still very memorable, we played like shit but the audience was just fucking insane!
8.The best song you made:I really like some of the new songs we're writing for the new album right now, but on the first album like "down of the dead" very much and on the 2nd one I prefer "mankind afterbirth" and " and jesus wept" They are all very brutal,aggressive,yet catchy songs, the stuff we're writing now is pretty similar,only a bit faster maybe...
9.Were you on some local
radio show or TV:
Yeah sure, we were ever featured on national radio and commercial TV-stations when we
released our first 2
albums, back then we were rockstares, now we're pathetic old metal granddads -haha!
10.do you think that
underground music deserves more attention of media or..:
yes of course, but it will never happen in a big way...you know what they say,"some
music was meant to stay undergroub..."
11.Do you have support of
your local fans:Yeah, especially a lot of our old fans still seem to be active in
the scene.We also hope to gain a lot of new fans
I think we can still complete with a lot new bands, you will see when the new album comes
out.
12.Any plans for the future:Hammerheart will re-release "Emerging From the Netherworlds" in December '99,followed by "Realm of Ecstasy" some time in march or so,both albums will contain our demo tapes as bonus traxs...in the Spring/Sumer we'll start recording our 3rd album.After the release we hope to play some cool festivals or a small European tour.
