Ashes of Forever (1996 self-financed debut album)
The Land Where the Crow Starves (1998 Twilight Records,MCD) Maiden America (1999 Twilight Records, tribute/comp)

A short biography:

Formed in January of 1994 in the small town of St
Marys, Pennsylvania, Edenrot started out as four kids getting together with
only one ambition: to have fun. After a year of jamming these kids decided
to get serious and start doing something with what they had already begun.
After the decision of a name was behind them, they went into Holland Sound
Studios to do a 10 song CD called "Ashes of Forever". After hooking up with
Twilight Records from Devault Pennsylvania two years later, they entered
Purgatory Studios to record a MCD called "The Land Where the Crow Starves".
They also did an Iron Maiden tribute/comp that Twilight released the very
next year. Edenrot, involved in the ongoing process of trying to receiving
name exposure, is presently pushing a two song demo out to carefully chosen
labels so that they may continue their journey through the wide world of
metal.

Interview with Allan Ginther

1.Who are the band members:
The current line-up is Scott Hoffman(guitar/vocals), Rose Mraz(bass/vocals), Allan Ginther(guitar/vocals). Jim Boroi, a founding member and drummer for 5 years parted ways with us in June of 1999. No replacement has been found yet at the time of this interview(January 2000).

2.How did you get your name and what does it means:Looking for a name to carry our sound and a belief to stand behind, Scott came up with a list of possible names, one of which was Edenrot. After much discussion we decided on Edenrot for (at the time) it's unique value and harsh imagery. One of the most outstanding reasons for us choosing it was because we had never heard anything like it before. Little did we know that when we would start networking the underground, that a bunch of other "Rots" would appear. What the name represents to us is the downward spiral in which our world is taking into the abyss of nothingness. Ever since man had become the prominent power on earth, he has used it's resources without even a care to what his actions may bring. Greed, corruption, carelessness, and power are just some of the characteristics which we like to think the word Edenrot represent.

3.What music style do you play and compare it to some similar bands:Melodic Death Metal. Paradise Lost/Edge of Sanity/Carcass/My Dying Bride is a good comparison.

4.Some of your favorite groups:
Obituary has always been one of my favorites ever since I got into heavier music back in the late '80s early '90s. There are of course the influences that I just mentioned, Paradise Lost being the biggest. Many of nights back in our youth Scott and I drove around our little Pennsylvanian town trying to figure out how Lost could come up with such heavy and powerful, yet melodic music. Early Megadeth is still one of my favorite things listen to. I can safely say that they were the band that inspired us to play guitar and write music.

5.Your opinion about underground and commercial music scene:Well, on one hand you got some horrible commercial bands and on the other you got horrible underground bands. Neither option(commercial or underground) is the "be all end all" of what is good. Just because your commercial doesn't mean your good and just because your underground doesn't mean people will like you. The problem now a days is that there are way too many bands out there. Most of it's garbage! In either category you have to pick through the trash to find the bands that are any good.

6.What was the biggest success of your band:
This might seem strange to some but I personally think that our first album/release was one of our biggest successes to date. The only reason I say that is because "Ashes of Forever" was probably our biggest challenge the bands ever gone through so far. It might not have been a success in it's own right(selling less that 300 copies) but just doing it all ourselves was a big accomplishment. That was the first thing that said "We are a band. This is what we want to do and we'll be damned if were not going to try our best."

7.How many concerts did you played and by your opinion what was the best:
We really haven't played that many when you think about how long the band has been going. Probably only about twenty or thirty in the last six years. One of the best would have to be a two day METAL festival that we played in Maryland during 1998, playing with such great acts as Garden of Shadows and Deceased.

8.The favorite song you made and why:
I like all of our material, when your in the band you can't help but do that. I would have to say that "Plague of One" from the "Ashes..." disc would have to be my favorite. Can't really say why, just have always taken a liking to it. The main guitar line which appears through out the whole song is a great attention getter.

9.Where you on some local radio show (or something like that):We've been on a few college radio stations, a couple of the bigger ones also but all in all radio hasn't been to good for us.

10.Do you think that underground music need more attention of media and what is your opinion about big music televisions and radio stations(such as MTV,Viva.....):
MTV sucks royally! VH1 is cool, they have all those Behind the Music shows. As for radio stations, they're not worth shit unless they have Howard Stern on in the morning.Underground music as a whole has absolutely no chance to reach the masses of the world. It's just not for every one. I think most people feel the need to fit in with the society around them which leaves underground music out in the cold since there isn't much of a following for it.And as I said before, there's so much garbage out there that I don't even know if it's worth trying to push.

11.Do you have support of local metal :
At one time in our own home town, music use to be a big thing. Everyone would come out and support whatever was going on be it Punk, Metal, or whatever. Now that's pretty much dead. No one cares any more, maybe everyone has grown up and has better things to do. In any case, the music scene in our area is dead and has been for a couple years now.

12.Plans for the future:
Find a drummer, write more music, tour, become big porn stars... I don't know, nothing definite at this time.

13.Say something for the end:
Thanks for the interview!!! Hope everything goes good for you in the future. Anyone interested in Edenrot, please get in touch. METAL!!!!!
