Ebola & Velcra

1)Introduce your band?
Velcra are Ebola (vocals) and OD (instruments). We are supported for live gigs
by Jura (bass) and Mikko (drums).

2)Your discography?
We released our first self financed cd in June 2000. We are currently in the
process of recording the second ep that will consist of three new tracks. One
of the track is a cover version of Alice In Chains' 'Would?' but I bet you
will find it hard to recognise ;)

3) What are you thinking of metal scene today?
I think metal scene is very fragmented nowadays- like every scene is. It used
to be fairly clear to describe music as metal or disco or pop. Nowadays you
have within metal scene genres like doom, rapcore and industrial, which have
very little in common. On the other had metal is influenced by hip hop and so
on. I think that is a good thing. It is okay to put together which ever
ingredients on wishes. I'm not a big fan of purist thinking in the way of
'your not a proper metal band if you do this and that'. Freedom of thinking is
a key to good stuff and I think its great that genres are melting together and
finding inspiration from each other.

4) what are thinking right before you go onstage?
Well, gigs are great fun and we usually sit at the backstage with other bands
chatting and having a few beers. We've had the priviledge of playing with some
really good bands. Our kind of bands are rare especially here in Finland so
its cool to find some kindred spirits to share a beer with!

5) What is about metal that makes you want to play it?
The energy. I've always listened to metal, starting with the eighties cheesy
hair bands such as Skid Row. When I was younger I didn't really think that I
would be able to sing metal myself, but it's all in ones head. It was
surprising to learn that I can do anything if I just decide to do it.
Me and OD have always listened to a wide variety of music. You can hear it in
Velcra's music, too. I have always been into upbeat electronica which also got
me into industrial. We find melodies essential to all good music. Yet you can
also hear the influences of hard core metal and rapcore bands in Velcra.

6) Who are your favourite bands?
There are many, but musically our influences derive most strongly from bands
such as Rammstein, Hänzel und Gretyl, Senser, Faith No More, Pantera,
Clawfinger and My Ruin.

7)Do you think luck is more important than talent?
Neither is important. One seems to get extremely lucky with a good demo : ).
I'm not a big believer of talent either. Talent is a mythical thing that
assumes that people are born with some divine powers that just keep coming
out. Thats bullocks. I think most important thing is work. If you want to do
something you have to keep doing it until you get it right and then you have
to work even harder to make sure everybody else knows what you are doing.

8) Plans for future?
Plenty. Our first demo raised a lot of interest. Lots of people have been in
touch with us and we are currently negotiating about co-operation to several
directions. Keep following the news section on our website at
www.velcra.cjb.net

9) Are you having any touring plans?
Yes. The line- up for the live band has changed lately, so we are rehearsing
to get into shape.

10) some message for your fans?
If you liked our first demo, you'll love the next one! Stay sweet and spread
the desease!
