The photocopier's run out of
paper.
Veronica:Oh no! It's always the same. Henry:What's the matter? Veronica:The photocopier's run out of paper. Henry:Have you looked in the store cupboard for more? Veronica:Yes, of course. But that's out of paper as well. Henry:That's really bad luck. If your job's really urgent, I would go to the copy bureau across the street. Veronica:Thanks. It is and I will.
(1) I xeroxed all the letters(我把信件都影印了)。(2) Could you make a xerox of this contract for me?(這合約可以給我影印一份嗎?) I photocopied all the letters、Could you make a photocopy of this contract for me? This copy machine can run off 100 copies in twenty seconds(這個影印機二十秒鐘可以印出一百份副本)。 I'll run off fifty copies of this即「這個我會印五十份」。 The copier has run out of paper或The copier is out of paper。Run out (of something)是「(某些東西)用完」,而out of也是「沒有」的意思,例如:(1) Food is running out(食物快要吃完了)。(2) I was totally out of breath after the long run(我長跑之後,氣喘如牛)。 The copier needs some more paper。 |
