The next morning we let Autumn get ready first since she's the working girl now. After we all get done we say bye to Autumn and tell her to have a great day. She says thanks and takes off. We can tell she's nervous but we know she'll be fine. Lorie and I head over to the motel lobby to grab a paper then head back to the room and start looking for any jobs that we can do. "Hey Tre" "Yea?" I ask her absentmindedly. "There's a waitressing job in here at a bar" "I have no experience" "Me either but it's a job. Hey didn't you apply at a bar a few weeks ago?" "Huh? Oh yea I did. But that was for making food." Lorie looks at me and laughs "You cook? You told me yourself you can't cook but yet you apply for one?" I look up from the paper and laugh "Yea, well the bar looked cool and I figured it would be a great place to work. I really didn't expect to get the job but thought I might as well apply. What's the name of the place in the paper?" "Uhh..Tabu" I jerk my head up from the paper and stare at her "Tabu?" "Yea, why?" "You mean to tell me you don't know who's bar that is?" I ask her surprised. She sits thinking for a minute and then shakes her head "No, why should I?" "Uh, Lorie, Howie from BSB owns that bar" I tell her. "No Way" "Way. We are definitely applying there." I tell her getting up and grabbing my purse. "Come on girl get moving" I tell her. Lorie gets up and grabs her purse "But I thought you had no experience" She says to me. "Forget that, this is a bar that Howie owns and that means BSB which means AJ!" She starts laughing at me "Oh brother Tre" "Uh, it also means Kevy Kev, Lorie." She stops dead in her tracks and just looks at me. "What?" I ask her because of the look she is giving me. All of a sudden she bolts towards the door and is out before I can realize she's gone. "Come on Tre, we don't have all day, we gotta get to the club." She yells at me already getting into the car. I'm cracking up as I get into the car "I thought that might grab your attention Ms. Lorie" "Yea yea, you know anything about Kevin will grab my attention" She tell me. "Lets just hope this ad wasn't in yesterday's paper and we're too late" I say to Lorie as she pulls out of the parking lot. "OH we are not going to be late" Lorie tells me with a air of confidence. "And how would you know this?" I ask, just knowing what her answer will be, but had to ask anyway. She looks at me dead serious "Cause nothing is keeping me away from meeting my Kevy Kev" I just start laughing at her "Uh OH, look out Kevin a determined Lorie is out to get ya" "Damn straight" Lorie says as we make our way down the street.
*Autumn*
I leave that morning more nervous then I've ever been when starting a new job. I wasn't sure why, I just knew I was. I get to work and see Mr. Wilson so I walk over to him and he is happy I was on time and that we should go in and do all the paper work. "We have to get it done now because a very important customer is coming in today and we have to be ready. Plus we need to get you your uniform and start training you on the menu. Well if I wasn't a total wreck before, I am now-I think to myself. We got all the paper work done and I am ready to start training on the menu when Mr. Wilson comes over to me. "I'm sorry Autumn but you don't have time to study the menu now, we have to get things set up for our customer. "Ok, Mr. Wilson, no problem" I tell him. I put the menu away and walk over to help set up. I'm wondering who this customer could possibly be when I hear the door open. I look up to see who it is and I am looking into the most beautiful brown eyes I have ever seen (though Tre would disagree with me since she thinks AJ's eyes are to melt for).I stand there totally shocked. OH MY GOSH, it's Howie! Howie from BSB is standing not 20 feet away from me. I see Mr. Wilson walk up to him and shake his hand. "Mr. Dorough, I'm so glad to see you again. Won't you please follow me to your table." Howie smiles and I about crumble to the floor. "Nice to see you too Mr. Wilson. Yes please do." Howie says in his soft voice. I decide I better get myself together or I'm going to look like a idiot, something I do not want to look like, specially in front of Howie. They walk up to where I'm standing and I look at Howie and he smiles at me. I smile back and start hoping my legs don't betray me by collapsing. "the rest of my family are on their way" Howie tells Mr. Wilson. "Ok Mr. Dorough I will make sure they get seated as soon as they arrive." "Thank-you" Howie says to him and then looks at me. I am totally mesmerized by his eyes when he says something to me. "Ms?" "Huh? OH yes I'm sorry. Is there anything I can get you Mr. Dorough?" I ask finally gaining control of my speach. "Yes, there is but first please do me one favor" Howie asks me. -what take you in the back and jump you? Ok, I can do that-I think to myself but of course instead I say "Of course, anything" "Please call me Howie. When you call me Mr. Dorough I wanna look around for my dad" He says smiling. His eyes sparkle when he smiles and I totally melt on the spot and figure they are gonna have to get a mop to get me off the floor. Smiling back at him I say "Ok Mr..I mean Howie, now what can I get you? "well I think I'll wait for my family to get here before ordering food, but I would like some herbal tea please." "Ok, one tea coming right up" "Thank-you" I smile at him and walk away. I can feel his eyes on my back and I pray I don't trip and fall flat on my face. "I am sorry Autumn that such a big party is your first table but the girl that was supposed to take it called in." Mr. Wilson said to me while I was getting Howie's tea. Thinking to myself, I really need to thank the girl I say "Oh it's ok Mr. Wilson, it should be fine." "Ok, but if you feel it's starting to get too much you tell me and I'll get someone to help you, ok?" "OK, I will, thanks." "Your welcome Autumn, thank you for being such a good sport" after he said that he walked into the kitchen. -You don't worry Mr. Wilson, I'll take REAL good care of Howie-I think smiling as I walk back to Howie with his tea. "Here's your tea. Is there anything else?" I ask as I sit his tea down. I take a deep breath and he smells terrific. I have always heard how good he smells and decide all the reports were right. "nope, everything is fine right now. Thank-you" "Ok, I will come back in a few minutes to see if you need anything or if your family has arrived" I say smiling at him and dying on the inside. "Ok, great" He says and looks back down and some papers he had been reading. I walk off into the back to collect myself. -Oh wait until Tre and Lorie hear about this-I think- they will die.
*Trelyn and Lorie*
We pull into Tabu's parking lot a little after 10 am and it just hit us to think about if they were open yet. Luckily it looked like they were getting deliveries so that means that someone is there to talk to about the jobs. "Well, lets get this over with Lorie" "What's wrong Tre, you seem nervous?" She asks as we get out of the car. "Not exactly nervous as much as just hating the whole job hunting thing." I tell her when we get to the doors and walk in. We check out the club an both agree that it looks like a really cool place to hang out and party. We see some guys up at the bar. "Lets go see if one of them is the manager" Lorie says and starts to head over to them. I follow her up to the guys and see that they are very nice looking -seems this place might be REAL fun to work at, hopefully these guys do work here-I think to myself. "Excuse me" Lorie says. The guys look over at us "Yes, can we help you?" The one with long blonde hair and blue eyes ask. I smile at him while some very fun and interesting thoughts go through my head-OHH I'm sure you could help me a lot through these hot Florida nights. Seems like a really good time to start flirting-I think (No, I can't help it, I'm a huge flirt, it's my nature) I smile at both of them "Yes, were here about the 2 waitressing positions that are open here" I tell them in a very sweet and flirty voice. Lorie hears my tone and rolls her eyes at me -Oh boy, here we go-she thinks. "Oh, really?" The one with long brown hair asks. "Yes, are one of you nice guys the person we need to speak to about them?" I ask. "Well unfortunately we're not." The blond says to me and looking at me up and down. "OH well isn't that a shame" I say to him "You look like your the type to be in charge." Smiling and kinda pushing his chest out he says "We're the bartenders. John is the one you need to talk to. He's in back checking out the orders" "Oh" I say to him as I walk up and place my hand on his arm "Would you mind going to get him for us? I mean, if it's not too much trouble" They look at us then each other "No, not at all. I can get him for you." The blond says. "Why thank you...I'm sorry, I don't know your names" I say to them both in a very nice sweet voice. "Oh, uh, I'm Jim and this is Steve" He says pointing to the brown haired guy. "Well, hi Jim and Steve, I'm Trelyn and this is Lorie. It's very nice to meet both of you. I tell them shaking their hands. "yea, really nice to meet you too" Jim says, "I'll go get John for you" "Thank-you Jim" Lorie says smiling. "No problem, my pleasure" He says smiling back and almost trips over the bar stools legs. I kind of chuckle to myself and look over at Lorie. She smiles back at me knowing I was getting to these two and it would probably help in getting the job. "So, Steve, how long have you worked here?" I ask him and sit down on the stool Jim had just left. "Uh, about 6 months I believe." He answers while looking at me and I smile sweetly at him and put my hand on his leg. "Oh, cool then if we get the job will you kinda show us the ropes around here?" I ask him and move my hand a little bit on his leg. He looks up at me and then at Lorie, who smiles at him "OH yea sure, I'd be happy to Trelyn" He says to me with a big smile plastered on his face. "Thank-you Steve that is very sweet of you" I tell him and pat his leg. Lorie is standing there in front of him trying her hardest not to break down and laugh out loud as she watches me flirt with Steve.- I can't believe Tre, I swear that girl will flirt with anyone anytime and anywhere-Lorie thinks to herself. We hear voices coming from the back area "Great Jim, I'm glad 2 fine looking women have come to apply for the jobs, but do they have what it takes to work here?" A voice, we assume is Johns, says. "Well who cares John, they sure would be fun to train and look at all night" Jim tells him. I look at Lorie and smile very pleased with myself. John and Jim come over to where we are and Jim introduces us. "Hi John, it's very nice to meet you" I say to him. He looks me up and down and smiles then turns to Lorie. She shakes his hand and he does the same thing to her. He turns and looks at Jim and gives a little nod as if he's agreeing with what he said about us. Jim and Steve excuse themselves and then go into the back to finish the orders for John. We say bye to them and I tell them I hope to see them soon. They tell us the same thing. Before they were totally out of ear shot we hear them talking to each other "Damn them girls are hot, I sure hope they get the jobs" "Yea me too, it sure would make my nights a lot more fun if I got to stare at them two" then they got out of range so we couldn't hear them anymore. Me and Lorie look at each other and smile. We look at John and he is shaking his head and smiling "So you 2 would like to work here?" "Yes, we would. We think we would be a great addition to your staff." Lorie says. He looks at me and for the first time notices my hand. "And exactly how do you expect to work with that?" He asks pointing to it. I look down at it "Well yea it might slow me down a bit but I know I can pull it off. It won't be like this for long and after it's better I'll be able to move just as fast as anyone else working for you" I tell him looking him directly in the eyes. He doesn't look very optimistic and then says "Well, we'll see. Do you two have any experience in waitressing?" (OH great the dreaded question) "Actually, no, but we are willing to learn. We'd be reliable and hard working employees. You wouldn't be disappointed in hiring us" I tell him. He smiles at me and stands up. -Oh great-Lorie thinks-He isn't going to give us the jobs- I watch him get up and put my hand on his arm "John we really would do our best if you hire us. We're fast learners and we promise to try hard and do our best at our jobs." I say to him trying to look at him with a little bit of worry in my eyes. (Which I was really feeling so it wasn't hard to do). He looks over to me and then to Lorie, "You know what?" He says looking towards the back "I have a feeling about you 2 and I think it is the right one. Plus I also think that if I don't hire you I'll have 2 bartenders very upset with me" I start getting excited and look at Lorie and see that she is too. I decide I better wait to hear the rest before I start getting too happy. "Your hired. I like you 2. I think I'll take the chance in hiring you and training you for the job." Lorie and I look at each other and we get huge grins on our faces "Oh, thank-you John, we promise you won't regret it." Lorie says and then we both give him a hug. "OK, Ok, I hope I don't." He says laughing "Welcome aboard. We need you to start immediately so" he looks at his watch "It's 10:45 now, can you be here at 2? You need to come in early to get some training and we need to get all the paper work done." He tells us. We look at each other, not being able to believe we have jobs "2? No, problem we'll be here" Lorie tells him. "Ok, great. We will see you then." We shake his hand. "Thank-you John" I say to him. "Your welcome Trelyn. I have a feeling not many men can say no to you anyway" He says with a smile and a little chuckle. I give him a little innocent smile and a shrug. He starts heading towards the back so we turn to leave. We hear him "Ok, Jim and Steve, I hired them are you 2 happy now?" he yelled this but he was laughing. "Oh and you guys better be right about it too or it's your butts" Lorie and I look at each other and start laughing. "I guess flirting can really pay off at times huh?" I say to Lorie. She looks at me "Yes Tre I can say that your habit actually came in very handy today" We high five each other and head over to the car. "Whohohoooooo...wee did it, we got ourselves jobs" I yell out the window of the car. Lorie laughs at me and then throws in a BSB cd and we crank it as loud as it will go and sing just as loud as we head back to the motel to start getting ready for our first night of work.
*Autumn*
I can't believe how fast the day has gone after Howie's family arrived, I think to myself as I sit down in back for a break. I look at the clock and am surprised to see that I only have a half hour before my first day at work is over. I took care of Howie and his family and am shocked I didn't spill anything on any of them from just being nervous at the fact I am serving them. I guess I better get up and get myself back to work, it's almost time to go, I decide and walk out into the restaurant. It died off around 3 this afternoon but it's starting to pick up again, because of dinner time I guess. -I'm glad I don't have to work through dinner time, lunch was enough for me-I think while I'm cleaning up a table. As I am waiting on people I keep drifting back to how Howie looked and smelled and I can feel a huge smile come on my face, I know the customers are probably thinking I've lost it but I can't help it, Howie is soo gorgeous and just soo sweet. Finally the half hour is up and I get to clock out and go home. I tell Mr. Wilson bye and I'll see him tomorrow and head for home. -I can't wait to tell Lorie and Tre about Howie-I think while trying to navigate on Orlando's busy streets-they will flip out. I wonder how the job hunting went for them. I hope fine because I don't feel like putting up with another one of Tre's little temper tantrums. I pull into the parking lot of the motel and see that Lorie's car is gone. -Wow they sure are looking hard for a job, they're not back yet-I think as I get out and head for the door. I get in and decide I better take a shower, I smell like the restaurant. As I get my clothes I notice a piece of paper on top of the tv:
Autumn,
Guess what??!! WE GOT JOBS!! We took waitressing jobs at a club called Tabu, you remember that name, right? We had to go into work early so we can try to learn the ropes and we'll be working until close, why don't you come down and pay us a visit? HEY, maybe some really HOT men will be there....wouldn't that just rule?? Well gotta go, hopefully see you there.
Tre and Lorie
WOW! they got jobs, that is sooo cool, things are looking up. I get my clothes together and head into the shower. -WOW they are working at Howie's club, I can't believe that. I wonder if my luck will hold out and I see Howie twice in one day. Hmm I doubt it, I can't get that lucky-I get done with my shower and check the clock and decide it is way too early to head to a club, it's only 6:30 so I sit done to watch some tv. I don't realize I fell asleep until I jerk awake and look at the clock and it's already 9:15. -OMG I fell asleep, Tre and Lorie are gonna kill me for not coming down earlier-I frantically run around the room grabbing my purse and keys and fly out of the room. I get into my car and realize that I don't even know where the club is, so I have to get back out and go get the address from the phone book. With that accomplished, I return to my car and head to Tabu, hoping deep down inside that my luck is that good and Howie is there.
