The region, with four wilayats, has a breathtakingcoastine, with wide bays, rocky caves and intets. Dolphins and turtles are often seen close to the shore and the lagoons are resting spots for many migratory birds.

TOURIST ATTRACTIONS

QARAT AL KIBRIT SALT DOME

Here te erosion of salt has carved caves and open pits. Dark limestone has been brought to the surface by underground salt forcing its way upwards.

There are miles of white sand dunes and beautiful beaches covered with pink and white shells. It also has a small oasis complete with plam trees, grass and running water.

MANGROVES IN MAHOUT ISLAND

This small island with forests of black mangrove attracts migrating birds and is a delight for bird watchers. It’s also a centre for Oman’s shrimp fishing.

RASIDARAH AND RASDUQM

Rasidarah has a long, stunning, secluded beach with turtles and dolphins swimming close to the shore. Seabirds in thousands fly along the water’s edge and the coloured rocks are quite a sight. Rasduqm is a delight with the landscape scattered with rocks of wpectacular from and colour. The different shapes like elephants, human heads and mushrooms, formed by erosion, are beyond human imagination.

WADI SHUWAYMIYAH

The place abounds with rare specimens of wildlife and the picturesque setting surrounded by greenery and vegetation is spectacular. Attractive flat white beaches make camping easy and enjoyable.
