It was short drive to Mysore, only 150 km or so from Bangalore. We got to see some historical sites of the Tipu Sultan's empire. Also visited some temples. Some of us bought silk for their wives and sisters back home. Certainly cheaper and better selection here than at home. A good place to shop sandalwood products as well.

Siddharta. 73/1, Guest House Rd. Nazrbad, Mysore. Tel: (0821) 520692. Though crowded when we were there, I liked this place. Vegetarian restaurant. Close to Internet, STD/ISD  Bank. 

Places to visit

Palaces, parks. A little shopping for silk fabrics and ready-made garments. We got ourselves a guide for Rs 50. Guides will come after you and you must negotiate for rate.
