Do you like Indonesian Music? Don't live in Indonesia and can't
figure out how to get a hold of your favorite Indonesian artist
on CD? Then you MUST visit
(great job Irma! God bless ya! ^_^ ) Hmmm, what can I say? I love Indonesian music. Sukanya, bolehlah dikatakan hard core fan. (Not dangdut though.) Indonesian contemporary music is so alive, so rich, so catchy: things I cannot say about Malaysian music with the exception of Sheila Majid, Zainal Abidin and maybe (just maybe) a few other singers. Not trying to condemn Malaysian singers or anything, but I am sure some of you know why I feel this way.
"How did I come to like Indonesian music?" Sering persoalan itu tertimbul di kalangan teman2x Fairy dari Indonesia dan juga Malaysia. It all started in spring of 1994 with this album.
 Some of you recognize this album, I know. It's DEWA19's 2nd album release, Format Masa Depan. I remember I was in USA masa tu, still in high school. I had an Indonesian friend by the name of Retno, but everyone called her Pipiet for some reason. So adalah satu hari tu dia ajak pegi rumah dia, saja nak melepak. Oklah, I went. Tengok dalam bilik dia, wow, sikit punya byk Indonesian album dia bawak dari Indonesia. I browsed around, I ingat lagi, ada Yana Julio lah, Java Jive lah, all these singers I never heard of. *plak pluk plak* tgh korek2 CD collection dia, terjumpa lah album cover baby bogel tu. Rasa nak tergelak pulak tengok cover macam tu, macam Nirvana lah konon. Tapi apa2lah, Fairy suruh Pipiet pasang kat stereo system dia. That first song I heard, just blew me out of my mind: Aku Milikmu. I was never the same after I heard that song. Woo, after that incident, seboklah Fairy mencari album Dewa. Fairy dari hari tu, alhamdulilah sampai hari ni, berjaya mengumpul semua album DEWA19. I like not only DEWA19 but also other Indonesian singers and bands, yang memang Fairy rasa cun giler. But there is too many to mention here. :) Most unfortunately for me, I am not privileged to find any of my favourite Indonesian music in Malaysia. Tak tau kenapa, Malaysia just doesn't import them. Rugi betul. So with the kindness of my good friends yang ada hubungan dengan Indonesia, Fairy pun mintak lah diorang belikan album untuk Fairy. Di sini Fairy ingin mengucapkan berbyk terima kasih kepada mereka yang telah menolong Fairy dengan kiriman album dari Indonesia. Especially to Kak Zie and Kak Tita, who helped me complete my DEWA19 collection, thanksssss..:)) Andre, Mas Majid, Usama, makasih juga! :) To Mas Ishar, who made this Unofficial DEWA19 homepage and even went to the extent of dedicating it to me (hehe), the biggest DEWA19 in Malaysia (yeah!), makasih juga mas. You're da best. :)
