Looking up at the moon, Kevin Richardson sighed as he continues his walk on the beach, the gentle waves from the ocean ran over his bare feet, closed his eyes, enjoying the moment of silent and peace. When he opens them, he saw a girl standing nearby, she's about 5'4 or 5'5 with long light brown hair.

"Miss? Are you okay?" Kevin asked, concern, wondering what's she doing here alone at this time of a night. She turned to his direction; her big brown eyes shocked Kevin.

"I'm fine, thank you." she replied, her voice was soft, Kevin never believed in love at first sight, but he knows that he's in love with her already, but how? He didn't even know her name!

"I'm Kevin." he said, reaching out his hand, the girl looks at it and smiled. She didn't reply; she backed off a little.

"So...what are you doing here?" Kevin said, regretting being too eager, he must have scared her.

"Don't you think the ocean is beautiful? It's restless, the waves, the ocean is where all life begin." she stare straight, as if she didn't hear anything Kevin just said.

"Yeah, I love the wave, especially the gentle breeze from the ocean during sunset. " Kevin replied, seeing the impress look on her face, he knows that she's an ocean lover.

"Ashley." she said, confused for a second, Kevin soon realized that's her name.

"So, Ashley, do you come here every night?" Kevin asked, not dare to look at her, to him, she's like a goddess, so beautiful and perfect as if she doesn't belong in this world.

A gentle breeze blows from the ocean, Ashley shivered, she was only wearing a blue sleeve less long dress. Kevin takes off his long-sleeve shirt and put it on her shoulders, he was only wearing a black wifebeater, which shows his muscular body.

"Thanks." Ashley whispered while putting the shirt over her dress. "I have to go." She turned and started walking.

"Are you going to come here tomorrow?" Kevin asked, catching up to her.

"I don't know." Ashley replied. Her face was emotionless.

"And I will wait all night." Kevin smiled as Ashley walks off.

"What's wrong with me?" Kevin muttered to himself as he heads back to his apartment.

*~*

"I was beginning to think you got lost!" his cousin yelled though the living room. "I'm lost, lost in her eyes." Kevin thought to himself. "What?"

"Nothing, good night Brian!" Kevin closed the door behind him, he needs to think, think about tonight, about the mysterious girl, and the strange feeling that he has when he's around her.

He sat down next to the window, a gentle breeze blow against his face, inhaling the fresh smell of the ocean; it reminds him of the mysterious girl again. Kevin let out a heavy, frustrated sigh as he buries his head in the soft pillow.

"Kevin?" Brian stuck his head in from the door.

"Go away, I'm asleep." Kevin groaned, hides his head under the pillow.

"Sorry, I was wondering if you want me to wake you up tomorrow?"

"No! Leave me alone!" Kevin mumbles in his sleep. Brian exit the room, quietly close the door behind him. Kevin turns as he fall deep asleep again.

*~*

The sunshine from the window woke Kevin up the next morning.

"What?" Kevin mumbled, soon realize it's 10:06 already.

"Brian! Why didn't you wake me?" Kevin yelled as he grabbed some cloth and disappeared in the bathroom.

"You told me not too!" Brian yelled though the bathroom door. He was wearing a white T-shirt with a basketball on the back with a pair of dark blue shorts. His short, curly reddish brown hair matches his face shape perfectly. His baby blue eyes are appear more noticeable as he puts on a baseball cap that's dark blue with the letter 'K' on the middle in white.

"I'm late thanks to you!" Kevin grumble as he enters the kitchen.

He's wearing a black wifebeater which shows his muscular chest and arms, and a pair of baggy jeans. His emerald green eyes sparkling with anger and frustration.

"You told me not to." Brian takes a sip of his coffee.

"When?"

"Last night."

"Don't you know that I never mean what I say when I'm sleepy?" Kevin sighed.

"Since you'll be late anyway, why don't you just take the day off?"

Brian suggested.

They're both in college, Kevin's graduating in a month and Brian's a freshman. Kevin works at Circuit City from 8am to 12pm.and take classes at night, Brian's exact opposite, Brian's class starts at10:30am, and he starts working from 3pm to 9pm. at Best Buy. The two cousins share an apartment that's only 15 minutes from the university, and 10 minutes from where they both works.

"I gotta go, if I stay, I'll be late too!" Brian slam the door shut behind him as his car speed off.

"Why should I stay home?" Kevin asked himself as he gobbles down the coffee and heads out the door.

*~*

"Kevin Richardson, please report to your manager please!" A loud mechanical voice flows out the intercom blankly.

"Great, just what I need to start a day." Kevin thought as he smile and nodded to his customer to excuse himself. "You wish to see me sir?" Kevin asked politely, knowing his manager's temper.

"Yes, I did." His manager turned around, eyeing Kevin with his green-gray eyes behind the glasses. He's 5'7, skinny. Everyone made fun of him behind his back, but he doesn't seem to care.

"Kevin, I know that you're doing an excellent job here in the past 3 months, but I'm afraid that I'll have to let you go. Here's your paycheck for this month." Mr. Hermant said coldly as he shoved the check into Kevin's open hand and walks back to his office.

*~*

"Great!" Kevin mumbled to himself while he pick up his jacket from the closet and left the store. "What should I do today?" Kevin thought as he speed off into the bright sunshine.

*~*

"Sorry." Kevin apologized at he enter the apartment, seeing Brian on the sofa with his girlfriend, Lea, she has dyed blonde layered hair just past her shoulders and big, round dark brown eyes.

"That's okay." Lea replied while smoothing her hair with her hands.

"What are you doing home so early?" Brian followed Kevin into the kitchen after whispered excuse me to Lea. "What's going on?" Brian blocked the door to Kevin's bedroom with his back, wanting to know what happened.

"Nothing, I left work early since I didn't get enough sleep." Kevin rubbed his eyes with his hands as he pushes Brian aside to get in his room.

"No, you're not going to get any sleep unless you tell me what happened?" Brian insisted.

"Fine! I got fired! You happy?" Kevin slam the door to Brian's face leaving Brian shocked.

"Kevin? What really happened? How did you get fired?" Brian starting to banging on the door.

"Nothing! I walked in and I just got fired!" Kevin yelled though the door. Brian stood there, staring at the close door, shocked.

"What happened?" Lea puts her arms around Brian's waist.

"Kevin just got fired for his job." Brian sighed quietly.

"Oh my gosh, that's terrible! Do you want me to talk to him?" Lea and Kevin went to the same high school; Kevin was Lea's senior buddy for the school's fair. The only reason that the school pairs the freshmen and seniors up is because they want the seniors prevent the initiation of the freshmen. And Lea and Kevin bonded, and become friends ever since.

"No, I think he needs sometimes alone, want to go to a movie?"

"Yeah, you sure he'll be okay though?"

"Yeah, he just needs sometime alone." Brian walks out the apartment with his arms around Lea and his thought worrying about Kevin.

*~*

"What's wrong with me?" Kevin thought as he walks bare-footed on the rough sand of the beach; the moon looks brighter than usual, the full-round moon shines above in the darkness of the midnight sky.

"Hey." a small voice behind him made his heart beat faster. He turns and saw Ashley standing a few feet away from him; she's wearing a long, black silk dress with her hair falls down naturally. Yet, there's something about her made everything around her seems calm and worry-free, it seems like she's the symbol of the peacefulness. Amazed by how much her appearance affected him, Kevin reached out to hold her hand; unlike last time, she didn't turn away from it, she let Kevin holds her hand gently, letting the warmth of his hands to warm hers.

"I didn't expect to see you here." Kevin whispered softly.

"Me neither." They just stood there; holding hands, enjoying the silent moment they share. Time seems to stop at this minute as the couple gaze into each other's eyes.

"Will you be here tomorrow?" Kevin asked quietly as he pulls Ashley closer.

"I will if you will." Ashley looks up at the man holding her; feeling his heart beat under his shirt, an unknown feeling overwhelmed her. It's the feeling of tendency and tranquillity. Smiling at her response, Kevin wraps his arms around her tighter.

"This might sound weird and strange, but I think I'm in love with you." Ashley whispered.

"I know that I'm in love with you." Kevin lifted her face up by her chin and plants soft kisses on her cheek... "I've never felt this way before..." Kevin said softly while inhaling the vanilla of Ashley's hair.

"Me neither." she replied as she gazes into his green eyes.

They seem to sparkle under the pale moonlight, giving her a tingling feeling through her body.

"It's late, I'll see you tomorrow." Kevin puts his coat over her shoulders as he waved goodbye. Pulling the coat on, a slight grin appears on the corner of Ashley's mouth.

"He's shy." she chuckles at thought as she walks off the beach.

*~*

"Look, Kevin. I know that something's going on, and you don't have to tell me, but I'm concern. You've been acting strange lately. So, I was just wondering if there anything I can help." Brian said as he lets out a heavy sigh.

"Perfect, all I need is for him to get home." Brian thought as he looks into the mirror. Kevin looks in the window of his apartment, a smile appears on his face, when he found out the window is dark. Kevin opens the door as quietly and as quickly as he can; he tiptoed down the hallway. Kevin feels relieved as he enters his room. He doesn't want to deal with Brian questioning him about the way things are recently. He knows that Brian's just trying to help, but he really needs sometimes alone from everything that's happening, and it was happening so fast.

*~*

"Kevin?" Brian knocked gently on the door. No reply. Slowly, Brian turns the doorknob and pushes it open. "Kevin? Are you sleeping?" Brian whispered while approaching the bed. Kevin had heard Brian the first time, but he decides to ignore it, turning his back to Brian, hoping that he'll just go away. Brian lets out a sigh as he exits the room. Hearing the door shut, Kevin turns and lie on his back; soon, he falls into the opening arms of a dreamless sleep.

*~*

Kevin woke up to a skull-ripping headache. Sighing, he fluffed his pillow, hoping it will just go away eventually. Kevin winced as the pain increases, getting out bed; Kevin walks unsteadily to the medicine cabinet. Hoping to find something to ease the pain.

"Kevin? Why are you up so early?" Brian voice came from the other side of the room.

"I have a job interview today. I can't just sit around all day."

Kevin replied while digging deep in the pile of medicine bottles. "Do you know where's the aspirins?"

"It's on the top shelf. Why? Are you feeling okay?" Brian asked as Kevin found what he was looking for.

"I'm fine, it's just a stupid headache." Kevin said as he swallows the pills.

"You're pale and you're burning up!" Brian exclaimed as he touches Kevin's forehead.

"I'm fine!" Kevin takes Brian's hand off his forehead.

"No, you're not! How many times do I have to tell you to remember to put on a jacket when you go out?" Brian pushes Kevin back to his room.

"I'll be okay, see, I'm perfectly fine!" Kevin protested.

"Yeah, I'm sure you're 'fine'." Brian pulls the blanket over his cousin.

"Now, you stay put and don't even think about going to that interview! You're in no condition to do that!" Kevin chuckles at Brian's comment. "What?"

"You sound like my mother."

"Good, at least you'll listen to your mother!" The two cousins laughed at the conversion they're having.

"I have to go now, I don't want to be unemployed." Brian grinned as he left the apartment. Kevin groaned over Brian's bad joke as his eyelids getting heavier and heavier, soon, he's sleeping peacefully.

*~*

Darkness greeted Kevin when he awoke a few hours later, for a second, he can't recognize where he was. The alarm clock on the nightstand shows it's 7:30. "Great, this is just what I need, a headache and being late!" Kevin mumbled as he quickly changes into a pair of baggy jeans and a blue shirt.

*~*

"Brian, I'm going out!" Kevin yelled while running out his room and pulling on a long coat. He saw Brian and Lea sitting on the couch, cuddling next to each other as they waved goodbye to Kevin. Suddenly, Kevin realizes that his foot seems to be caught on something, he doesn't have to look down, and the thump of him landed hard on his right knee answered his question.

"Kevin? Are you all right? No, don't move your knee." Brian rushes over and so did Lea. Kevin turns his head to see what caused all this; Brian's dark green jacket lay on the floor still as if nothing had happened.

"I think you dislocated it." Lea said as she left to get some ice.

"But I have to go to the beach! I'm meeting someone there!" Kevin insisted as Brian helps him get back to his room.

"I'm sure that whoever you're suppose to meet will understand that it's impossible for you to go!" Lea comes in the room with a towel that holds the ice; she places it over his swollen knee gently.

"Get some rest." Brian closed the door behind him as Kevin grunts in despair and lay back down.

*~*

Soon, a week passed, Kevin's knee is fine, and the cold it gone. But he hasn't seen Ashley again; it's like she just disappeared from the face of the earth. Even though he's been out there, waiting for her every night after he recovered. But he never see her again, no matter how long he stays out there, no matter how much he wishes, how much he pray just to see her again, even if it's just a glance of her shadow. A crescent moon hangs in the middle in the sky above. Kevin stares at the waves in silence while his mind flies back to that night he met her, so unexpected, so surprising, yet so wonderful. Yes, wonderful, the smell of her hair, the tone of her voice, the way her eyes light up when she smiles.

*~*

"Should I talk to him?" Lea whispered as she watches Kevin from the balcony. She knows that Kevin's been at the beach every night as soon as he can walk again. Brian shakes his head as he hugs Lea tighter to his chest.

"He needs to be left alone. I don't know who he's waiting for, but I know that it must be important."

"Hey, I know what can cheer him up again. I'll set up a blind date for him with my friend!" Lea suggested.

"Yeah, but how do we make sure that he'll go?"

"He doesn't have to know, just bring him to the coffee house tomorrow at three! I have to go, my boss' gonna kill me if I'm late again." She quickly kissed Brian on the cheek as she left.

*~*

"What's the rush Brian? And where are we going?" Kevin asked while being dragged into the car.

"You'll see." was all Brian can say since he doesn't even know whose Kevin's date. They drove to the coffee shop in silence.

*~*

"You guys are right on time." Lea said sarcastically as the two men sit down across form her.

"Where's the girl?" Brian asked while looking around.

"What girl?" Kevin stares at Brian curiously. Before Lea or Brian can answer, a female figure was walking towards them.

"Over here!" Lea waved at the girl as she slowly approaches the table.

"This is my friend, Ashley, and this is Kevin." Lea introduced them. Kevin's eyes seems to be locked on Ashley, for a while, none of them spoke.

"Have you met before?" Brian waved his hand in front of Kevin's eyes.

"Yeah, under the moonlight." Ashley answered as she and Kevin exchanged a smile...
