AN: The part in blue is done by Krys, and the part in green is done by me.

The early morning air breezed through Krys's house as she ate her breakfast. It was a beautiful morning and Krys was free for the whole day. This was a day to enjoy and she was definitely going to enjoy every sun rays worth of it. After she finished her breakfast she headed up to her bedroom to get dressed. She placed a pink and blue flowered sun dress on her bed and searched through her closet for her white sandals. "Where are those shoes?" she asked herself. Finally after about 5 minutes of searching, Bingo. She found the shoes, right in front of her eyes. "God how could I be so blind?" she giggled and continued to her bed to get dressed for this wonderful day.

"Lots of shopping today, This should be fun" She told herself as she now put on her make up and headed down the stairs. "Oh the paper. I knew I was missing 'something' at breakfast. I'll head out to the back and feed Toby first." After thinking for a few seconds she went on and finished up with her adorable puppy Toby. "Now, for the paper" Krys walked through her house as she could now smell the beautiful flower scent in the air, do to the windows being open. She un-locked her front door and opened it. Right as she looked down to get the paper her jaw dropped and she feel to her knees.

"Oh my god, who is this? Excuse me... Sir? Sir? Oh my god I have to call someone" Krys panicked, there was a very handsome man laying on her front step. Krys sat on her porch next to the man lying there. "I have to get help." She thought. There goes her day of fun.

*~*

Krys finally woke the man up and lead him into her home. "Are you okay?" She asked him, helping him sit down on the couch.

"I think so, who am I? I mean does anyone know?" the man asked.

"Unfortunately, I don’t." Krys told him, she separated few strand of hair from the wound on his head.

"Ouch! What happened to my head? It hurts so bad" He rubbed his head in circles and closed his eyes.

"I don't know, but we'll find out once we get to the hospital." Krys comforted as she picked up her cell phone.

"Who are you calling?"

"The police station. Do you remember anything?"

"I think my name is Nick or Rick or something along those lines..." He answered.

"We'll go with Nick, it sounds better." Krys smiled and signaled Nick to wait a moment as she stepped outside to talk to the lady on the phone.

*~*

After a while, she returned, finding Nick exactly where she left him. "Well, they said no one was reported missing. So they can't do anything." She sighed.

"I checked my pockets, no wallet, no ID." Nick replied.

"C'mon we'll get you to the hospital first." Krys grabbed his hand and helped him out the door then into her car.

*~*

When they arrived at the hospital they talked to the nurse to see if they could get him checked out. Krys signed the papers for the billing and waited to be seen by a doctor. "Krystal Peterson" The nurse called out.

"Let's go." They walked back to the room where the doctor was waiting. After the x-rays one of the nurse took him out to take care of the cut on his head while Krys talked to the doctor.

*~*

"Ma'am, I really cant say what to do with him. I've never had to deal with this sort of thing before. I wouldn't even know where to start or whom to call." He said.

"I see."

"I had a nurse come in for about 5 minutes and ask him a few thing. She said a few names and there was one that really stood out to him."

"Oh, what was that?" Krys asked very curiously.

"Nicholas." he said. "Even on her way out the door when he had his back turned to her she called out that name one more time and he turned to look at her and asked what she needed. Ma'am I think that’s his name"

"He did tell me that he thought his name was Nick or Rick or whatever. Thank you for clearing it up for me."

"Your welcome."

"So how long to you think this lost of memory will last?" She asked

"Well it could be hours, days, weeks, months, even years. He may never regain his memory or he may got it back in seconds." He told her.

"Wow, you mean he may just wake up one day and remember everything?"

"That's right." He said.

"Well thanks again doctor, if I need anything I will be back"

"Good."

She went to find Nick after she left the room. It looks like they will be spending a lot of time together.

By the time they got back to Kry’s house, it was almost 3pm. Sighing, Krys dig through some boxes and got a pair of old sweat pants and an oversized T-shirt of hers. “Here, put them on, we’ll go shopping tomorrow.” She grinned as she brushed a piece of hair off her forehead.

“Thanks.” Nick nodded then disappeared in the bathroom, when he re-appeared, it was the funniest sight Krys had ever seen in her entire life. The T-shirt stopped at his waist, the sweat pants were too short, they rode up to his knees and his head was stuck on the hole. “A little help please?”

“Sure.” Stifling her laughers, Krys helped him pulled it down.

“Thanks again, I was so sure I’m gonna die.” Nick combed his hair with his fingers, only to make it more static then it was.

“Need a brush?”

“That would be good too.” Nick grinned.

“In the third drawer on the left hand side, there’re extra toothbrushes, toothpaste, hair gel, brushes, combs...etc. Whatever you need.”

“Once again, thank you. Why are you so nice to me? For all I know, I can be a psycho killer on the loose.”

“I don’t know, human nature I guess. You’re not a killer, you’re too sweet to be one. I’ll put those in the wash so you can wear them tomorrow.” Krys smiled as she headed off to the laundry room.

Staring at her fading image, Nick felt something in his heart, it was like it’s tied in a string and someone’s pulling on it softly. It didn’t hurt, just gave him an indescribable feeling. Like when a little kid for a ball of ice cream on a hot summer day, the joy could not be put into words. Nick smiled again then walked back in the bathroom.

As soon as the night falls, Krys was in a panic. There was only one bed, and she wasn’t going to share it with someone she only knew for less than 24 hours... After a quick and easy dinner of pizza, she sat down at the porch where she first found him and stared up to the sky.

“What are you doing out here?” The voice behind her made she jumped.

“You scared me. Nothing, just thinking.”

“I’m sorry, hey listen, I’m gonna go to sleep so where are the pillows and blankets?” Nick asked.

“What?”

“I kinda need some pillows and blankets to make a bed... Unless you want to make me sleep on the cold, hard floor.” Nick pouted, looking adorable as ever.

“I’m sorry, let’s go inside.” Krys replied, wanting to kick herself for being so stupid. There’s always the floor why didn’t she think of that?

*~*

The next morning, Krys took a day off from work and took Nick shopping. They didn’t get anything expensive, just a few pair of jeans, T-shirts and some sneakers.

Sitting in the house after getting back from the mall. Krys was bored to death. Suddenly, she got a great idea. "Rollerblading!' She yelled

"What about it Krysy?" Nick ask with a confused look.

"That’s what we can do today."

"But, um Krys, I don’t know how and... I don’t know how!" He answered

"Don’t worry about it Nicky, I got it taken care of." She told him as she ran up the flight of stairs to her own bedroom. Nick sat in the living room and watched some TV until she finally came back down about 5 minutes later.

"Pads!" She shouted

"Um... Is it that time of the mouth or something?" Nick laughed.

"No Nicholas it isn’t!" She giggled then continued.

“I have pads for you to wear so we can roller blade."

"Oh"

"Here put these on Nick". He put on the pads and then the blades.

"Now C'mon" She told him.

*~*

As Krys roller bladed down the street and Nick tried to, she caught herself staring at him, probably more then she should be. But what is it this time? Why was he suddenly so different to her? She had thought about him off and on the night before as she laid in bed trying to sleep and during breakfast she found herself smiling every time he looked at her or said her name. She thought he was the most adorable creature ever made. But with her being stuck in her thoughts about Nick that she forgot she was suppose to be helping him roller blade. She quickly glanced up to find him struggling to stand upright on his roller blades.

"Do you need help?" She asked.

"I don’t know if this will ruin my ‘macho’ image, but yes I do." He said as he tried to push off to a start to meet her half way. But before she knew it he was on his way down to the ground. Krys wasn’t going to let that happen. She grabbed his hand and tried to make the fall easier on him. As she tried to help him back up their eyes met. They just stared at each other in a daze till someone moved. It was Nick. His eyes met hers then his lips did the same. He kissed her. Now what ever will they do with themselves?

“Don’t worry, your image is fine.” Krys smiled as she pulled away. It had taken all her will power to leave his arms, his strong solid chest and his soft lips.

“Okay.” With help of Krys, Nick got back on his feet then slowly. He could still feel the gentle touch of her lips, and how good she had felt in his arms. Without thinking, Nick reached out and grabbed her hand. She gave him a dazzling smile as they skate down the block.

*~*

After they got back to Krys's house they got out of their roller blades and Krys helped Nick take all his pads off. “Krys?” Nick asked.

“Yeah, Nick?”

“Once we find out who I am and where I’m from, are you gonna let me go and never talk to me again?” Nick seemed to have the cutest puppy eyes when he asked her.

“Aww, Nick. Of course not.” She bent down to kiss him on his cheek, but he pulled her onto his lap.

“Whoa, Nick!” She giggled.

“Yes?” He asked in a pouty voice with his bottom lip stuck out.

“Nothing.” She just smiled and leaned back on him with her head up against his.

“So, Babe...I mean Krys. You wanna watch some TV?” Nick asked hoping she hadn’t hurt his slip up.

“Sure, Hon.” They both laughed and then continued on to fighting over the remote control.

“Gimme it!” She yelled.

“No, I’m the guest, lemme see it!” He shouted back.

“I don’t care, Mr. I'll-go-rollerblading-then-kiss-you-Nickolas.” She tried to spit that out without cracking a smile but she couldn’t help it. When she saw the huge grin on his face she lost it and let go of the remote, letting Nick have it.

“Neener, Neener, Neener... I got the remote!” He taunted her.

“Yeah well you better be nice to me or I wont show you where my play station is.” She grabbed the remote from his hands once that shocked look of ‘you wouldn’t dare’ hit his face.

“See Nickolas, you must learn that the women is always right.” She snuggled closer to him and flipped through the channels. Nick let out a little noise almost like a growl but then wrapped his arms around her and gave in.

*~*

A week had gone by and still none of Nick's memory had returned. Krys has now totally worked Nick into her daily grind and she was enjoying having him around. Well besides the fact that they seemed to be getting close in more ways then one. Especially after that kiss when they were roller blading.

Nick had noticed he was actually very good at doing some thing and if he didn’t get his memory back soon he could get a job to help out Krys around the house.

“Hey cutie?” Krys yelled from upstairs.

“Yeah?” Nick answered.

“You wanna go see a movie tonight?” She asked him.

“What do you wanna see?”

“I was thinking about ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’ how’s that?” She asked.

“Ok, cool! I just saw the preview for that on TV.” Nick said.

“Cool.”

*~*

They got to the movies and got their seats and all the normal movie junk food. Nick seemed to be in a pesky mood. He kept reaching under the arm of his seat and poking Krys in her side.

“Nickolas you little pain in my side.” Krys said laughing.

“Yep dats me.” He said in a childish voice.

“Oh, movies starting.” She said in a hurry and didn’t even notice how she scooted over in her seat to be closer to Nick.

*~*

Soon, four months passed. Nick was able to recall some events in his childhood, even high school, but not a clue of where he lived now or where his family was. Krys was beginning to find herself growing more and more attach to him. To his smiles, his words, he silly jokes and being with him. Of course, she wasn’t blinded by love like a fool; she thought things through first. What if he was married? No, he looked too young. A girlfriend? Maybe, but Krys was certain that he didn’t, just a gut feeling. But what was that feeling she had? The one that was tugging on her heart like a fish pulling against the bait. Unable to answer her own question, Krys decided that it was better to ignore it.

*~*

“C’mon! What’s taking you so long?” Nick complained loudly from the passenger seat as Krys closed the trunk after putting the picnic basket in while humming a tone.

“What’s your hurry anyway?”

“I just want to make sure we don’t have to drive around looking for a parking spot like last time.” Nick pointed out the fact that they had circled that mall parking lot for hours before finding a space.

“We’re going to a park.” Krys gave him a reassuring smile as she started the car and sped off.

*~*

“More?” Krys handed Nick the biscuits when he nodded at her offer.

“It’s so good.” Nick managed to say while stuffing his mouth with the freshly baked bread.

“Thank you.” Krys returned his compliment with a smile.

“Just telling the truth, can I have mo...” His words transformed into a scream as the hard baseball made contact with his temple, then there was nothing but darkness and the worried voice of Krys shouting for help.

*~*

“Will he be okay?” Krys asked with clear desperation in her voice, didn’t even bother making the effort to hide it.

“Slight concussion, but nothing serious.” The doctor informed her with a frown, telling her that he was annoyed with her questions.

“Would it somehow bring his memories back?”

“Maybe, but we’ll have to see when he wakes up.”

“Can I go see him then?”

“Sure, first room on the right down the hall.”

Krys muttered a thank you as she hurried down the hall.

*~*

Nick was sleeping peacefully or appeared to be when Krys pulled out a chair and sat down next to him. His chest rise and dropped as his lungs took in air and pushed it out. Gently, Krys brushed a streak of his blonde locks away from his eyes and that was when she saw that they were open. They were a mix between the color of the sunny sky outside and the color of the ocean at night. Those eyes held her own, she felt mesmerized, just like the first time she’d gazed into their depth.

“Hey, I was worried.” Krys grinned.

“Who are you?” Nick words couldn’t have a bigger effect on her. He didn’t remember her? Had his memories returned or had he gotten worse? Krys was too stunned to say anything. She felt numb, no thought, no feeling. There was a roaring in her ears, as well as a silent scream too intense to be voiced.

“Who are you? And what are you doing here?” the man in bed asked again, sounding bewildered and irritated at the same time.

“You don’t remember me? At all?” Krys whispered.

“No, am I suppose to?”

“What was the last thing you remember?”

“Chased down the streets by some robbers, one of them hit my head with a club or a baseball bat.” He replied, confirming that Krys’ worst nightmare was real. Nick had regained his memories, but forgot the ones with her!

“I’ll get the doctors.” Krys stood up and flew out the room, couldn’t bare to spend one more seconds with the man she gave her heart to, but knew her as a stranger.

It didn’t take her long to grab a doctor and told him Nick’s new condition. She was shut out the room while the doctors did some tests and asked Nick questions.

*~*

During that time, Krys had a chance to think and sorted her feelings out. She cared about him, more than just a friend and in a helpful way. She was in love! This acknowledgment shook her like an earthquake.

“Miss Peterson?” The doctor walked out the room and mentioned for her to come closer to him

“Yes?”

“It appears that your guess were correct. He had remembered everything, but left out the period of time he spend with you. It’s common among these cases of shortage of memories.”

“He doesn’t remember me at all.” Krys mouthed as she felt hot tears rolling down her face.

“I’m sorry, ma’am. The truth hurts.” The doctor apologized.

“Doesn’t it always?” Krys sobbed as she peeked in the room. Her eyes were met with Nick’s, so blue and heavenly. He got off the bed and was heading towards her, not breaking their gaze. Suddenly, Krys turned and fled all the way down the halls and the stairs of the fire exit.

*~*

Once outside, Krys breathed in a gulp of fresh air as she steadied her breathing. Sensing that she wasn’t alone, Krys turned around to face the person who was behind her. It was Nick, with bandages on his hand and the adorable expression on his face. Light filtered in through the trees and shone upon him. He looked just like an angel. Krys thought to herself. His eyes, so crystal blue, so heavenly.

“Why did you took off?” He started, staring into her eyes like before. Their eyes seemed to be locked in an embrace; it felt so right that she didn't want to look away...couldn't look away.

“I needed to fresh air.” Krys lied, cursing in her mind for coming up with such a lame excuse.

“I want to thank you for taking me to the hospital. The doctors also told me that you had been taking care of me for four months. Thank you.”

“No problem, anyone with a moral would have done the same.” Krys murmured.

“No, you were different. I saw the look in your eyes. And that was more than ‘moral’.” He insisted.

“Then you are mistaken.”

“No, I know I am not. Krysy.”

Krys was shaking with delight when he used the nickname he invented for her, only her. Does that mean he remembered? “How?”

“It just clicked in my mind chasing after you. It would be a great honor if you can join me for dinner at my room.” Nick smiled a smile that Krys had loved. At that moment, she couldn't bear it any longer; she turned around and hugged Nick close. Tears were streaming down her face. One after the other, they all came trickling down her trembling face. But unlike last time, they were tears for joy. Nick's arms immediately went around her shaking body, providing warmth and security. “Was that a yes?”

Krys only nodded, what else was there to say? She had lost her heart to him when he was a stranger at her door.
