" Shh! " I giggled softly as Nick and I reached my apartment. It was late night, actually early morning and I had to admit that I was slightly drunk, as was Nick. He smiled at me when we reached the door.
" I had a really good time tonight, Lauren. " He kissed my hand and I blushed.
" I did too! Thanks for taking me out. " I grinned and pulled him closely to me as we shared a deep kiss. " I'd ask you to come in, but I think I'm gonna get it for staying out so late. " I grinned when we broke apart.
" Um, it's all right. Just go in really quietly. " Nick smiled and kissed me a few more times as I leaned up against the wall.
" Mm..I don't wanna leave you. " I softly sighed as Nick kissed my neck.
" So don't. " He grinned and I shook my finger at him.
" Young man, I don't get down on the first night. " I kissed him on the cheek and reached for my keys.
Nick sighed and let go of my hands. " I'll call you, okay? "
" Okay. You sure you're gonna be okay getting home? " I smiled, recognizing that neither one of us should've been drinking in the first place.
" Yeah, I've got a cab waiting downstairs. " He kissed me again. " I'll catch ya tomorrow. "
" Um hmm..." I softly mumbled as his lips left mine and he turned to catch the elevator that was heading down. He blew me a quick kiss as the doors shut and I smiled while walking into the apartment.
Everything was still and silent and I figured that I had made it without being killed by Sarah for being out so late. She acted as if she were my mother sometimes and I don't think it would've pleased her that I was drunk, either.
I silently made my way through the living room and thought I was home free for my bedroom, when I stubbed my toe into a box that was sitting in the middle of the hallway. I figured it was a trap when I screamed in pain, " SON OF A...! " I hopped around for a few minutes holding my throbbing toe.
A few lights turned on and I grumbled some more. Sarah came out of her room with her arms folded across her chest and a look of curiosity and disgust on her face. " Um hmm..and what are we doing getting in at this hour? " She looked at me.
" Oh, I err, " I stumbled on my words a little bit. " I didn't just get in. I was, um, getting a glass of water. " I moved towards the kitchen sink, hoping to avoid her stare.
" Yeah, in your party attire, still? " She came towards me and looked at me. " Oh my god! Lauren! You're drunk! " Her voice was stern and steady.
" No, I'm not..." I lied through my teeth and knew that it wasn't convincing because I couldn't lie to her. I had never been able to and probably never would be able to.
Amanda had come out by now and groggily walked towards us. " What's going on in here? " She took one look at me and then at Sarah.
" She's drunk. " Sarah sighed in a very annoyed manner.
" Lauren! You know better than that! And besides, you know what happens when you get drunk..." Amanda scolded me harshly.
" Yeah, I know...but nothing happened. " I shrugged my shoulders as if care-free. I suppose the alcohol was wearing on my brain.
" I don't call that nothing?! " Amanda pulled my hair back slightly and looked at my neck where Nick had been kissing me.
" Oh, " I glanced down at my neck. " Well, at least I knew him this time? " I smiled a little.
" There is nothing funny about this situation. " Sarah sternly mothered me. " Now, you better get to bed, because you're gonna have such a hang over in the morning.
" Yes mom. " I grumbled under my breath and headed for my room.
" Oh get off it, Lauren. We don't appreciate that and nor do we need to hear it. You know that she's only looking out for you. " Amanda's words caused me to turn around.
I thought for a second and went running back to hug them. " I know. I'm sorry. " I frowned because I knew I had let them down.
" It's cool. You know we forgive you. " Amanda laughed and patted me on the head.
" How did I ever deserve friends like you? " I smiled.
" Ya know, I'm not sure. Amanda? " Sarah teased me.
" Very funny. " I grinned and walked back to my bedroom as I heard Sarah and Amanda discuss where the aspirin and coffee maker were because I would need it in the morning. I silently thanked them one more time before closing the door to my bedroom.
" Oww. " I grimaced because the slightest sound was beginning to set my head throbbing.
