Chapter 2

It’s been a week now, since I went to the mall and saw Nick with Amber. After that I saw them just once. They were in the park, kissing. So I guess it was serious between them.

That night, when I couldn’t get asleep, I was thinking about my day. The morning was like the others; Chrissie and I enjoyed breakfast. We ended in a food-fight, but that wasn’t the first time. We cleaned up together when someone knocked on the door.

It was pretty early. I opened the door, there wasn’t anyone. So I stepped outside and I saw a car standing before our house. Next to me stood Nick, he looked pretty upset. He had been crying. He tried to hide it, so I let him in. He went straight to my room, he didn’t even say hi to Chrissie.

I went to the kitchen. "Who was it?"

"Nick, he’s in my room. Can you leave us alone for…I don’t know, I’ll let you know." I picked some drinks, and went to my room.

*~*

I closed the door behind me and I saw Nick standing next to the window. "So, what’s wrong?"

"Nothing is wrong." He didn’t look at me. He wasn’t telling me the truth.

"Nick, don’t lie." He started sobbing. He came sitting on the bed, next to me, still looking at the window.

Then it all came out, Amber used him. She needed money and asked this to Nick. He gave it. "She said she loved me." He was really crying now.

I didn’t say a word since he started his story. "I know what you thought about her, but I didn’t wanna admit it." I just held him in my arms. He never was this emotional, now he was and I didn’t know what to do.

He didn’t say anything more; he just laid his head against my shoulder and cried. He stayed the whole day.

We had fun together. Trying not to think about what just happened, or what happened the day before in his case. Around eleven the phone rang. Chrissie answered it.

"Hello? Yeah, just a minute. Faith!! It’s for you!!" I ran downstairs, still laughing, and answered it.

"Faith here… Hello?" No one answered. I didn’t wait any longer and laid the phone back on. I went to Chrissie, she was watching…something.

"Who just called?"

"I don’t know, she didn’t say her name."

"So it was a girl?"

"Yes, she asked for you, didn’t she say something?"

"No. Chrissie?"

"Yeah what’s the matter?"

"Nothing, enjoy your movie, I’m in my room."

"Okay." I went upstairs, to my room.

*~*

"Who was it?" Nick asked. ‘I have no idea.’ He didn’t ask more. We just went on with our game. It was getting later and around one Nick had to go home.

"Thanks for…you know."

"No problem Nick, you’ll be all right." He gave me a kiss, but didn’t pull away. He kissed me on the lips, I kissed him back.

We stood there pretty long, but then Nick really had to go home and I went back inside.

Chrissie was already asleep, and that was exactly what I wanted to do right now. Now I’m lying in my bed, thinking about everything that happened, and then I fall asleep…
