Nick turned the handle on the hotel room door and wasn't very surprised to find it locked. He pressed his head against the door before banging as hard as he could. "Angela? Open the door." He called.
"No." Her voice echoed back, but it was the most
beautiful thing Nick had ever heard, Angela was at the other side of the door. He wasn't going to lose her again.
"Angela, we can either talk face to face, or I can shout through the door. The choice is up to you." Nick stood in the
hallway expectantly. But she didn't answer his suggestion."Damn it!" Open the door or I'll take it off its hinges!" An elderly couple walked past him, looking at him with fear in their eyes. Nick blushed and realized that scaring Angela wasn't going
to get her to open the door. He tried another approach.
"Please open the door? What I have to say really
shouldn't be shouted through two inches of wood." Yet, there was still no answer. Nick sighed. "I don't even know why am I doing this. You're the first girl that made me stand out in a hotel doorway and beg."
"Why are you doing it then? You must have a reason." Angela's voice filtered through the doorway.
She was standing on the other side with her head pressed against the door. She was confused, didn't Nick wanted her out of his life a few hours ago? What changed him?
"I don't know why." Nick said honestly. "All I know is that I can't lose you. Please let me talk to you, I won't even come in the room. I just want to see you."
There was the click of the lock being slid back and then the door opened. Angela's greeted him with tear-stained face and red eyes. "Talk."
"I just want to say that I need you. When I went back to the apartment and couldn't find you, I lost all meanings in life. I never thought that anyone can break someone's heart more than once, but you did. You broke it when you left and you broke it again when I found the stuff that we shared in the bottom of a trash can. Then about 5 minutes ago." A single drop of tear rolled down Nick's face.
Angela stared at him with absolute astonishment at his words, his tone and the way his eyes looked -weary and sad.
"I realized that I love you, whether you used me or not. I don't even care if you used me. I just want you back." Nick
finished.
Angela's heart dropped, she thought Nick knew the real her. But apparently she was wrong. He had believed lies. She shut
the door to Nick's face and threw herself on the bed, covering her ears with a pillow to block out Nick's pleads and protests. Finally, there was silence, she peeked though the hole, and found Nick gone.
