Chapter Thirty-nine

After the Matrix, they watched an action movie due to Nick's request. Then Angela put 'Never Been Kissed' into the VCR.

"Another romance?" Nick complained, but he was just joking.

Angela just laughed and tossed some popcorn in her mouth. It felt nice to be watching movies with Nick...Nick, why was she still confused about him? She loved him and he loved her, or else he wouldn't be singing in the rain like a fool. So what's she afraid of? It wasn't like they would have a long-distance relationship, she was within walking distance to his house and she's going on tour with them. Then what was bothering her? Maybe it was the words Marissa had said earlier before the fight, speaking of which, where had Marissa disappear to? Angela asked herself.

According to Kevin and the rest of the guys, no one had seen her after she and Sarah's plan was exposed. Sighing, she looked over at Nick and smiled when she found out he was asleep. Slowly getting out the bed, she turned off the television and covered Nick up with the heavy blanket he had earlier kicked aside when he wanted to copy the moves in the Matrix.  Angela knelt down beside him and watched him sleep for a little while. She leaned over and kissed his forehead.

"You missed my mouth by at least three inches." Nick said suddenly. "Care to try again?" He kept his eyes closed.

"You're supposed to be sleeping."

"But I'm not, are you going to kiss me or do you just like to tease sick people?" Angela could hear the anticipation in his voice, and her heart began to pound with that same anticipation also. Gently, she moved closer to him until her mouth came down to his. Nick's hands tangled in her hair, he deepened the kiss, but kept it slow, wanting to savor every minute of it. After a few minutes, he opened his eyes and pushed her back.

"As much as I want to keep kissing you, I'm about to fall asleep." He told her. Angela straightened his blankets and kissed his forehead again.

"Didn't we just talk about the forehead thing?" Nick grinned.

"If you be a good boy and getting better, I'll kiss you in the morning." Angela smiled.

"All morning?"

"If you are feeling better." Angela ran her hands through his messy hair.

"And if I'm not?" Nick yawned, struggling with his tiredness.

"Then you only get one. Now get some sleep." Angela stood up and walked to the door, Nick was sound asleep before she left the room.

On the other hand, Sarah and AJ had drove up to the hill where he proposed to her, they both sat in silence on the way up.

"AJ..." Sarah started when AJ opened the door for her. But she swallowed her words when she saw the look on AJ's face. It was cloudy, blurry with anger and confusion. Right at the moment, AJ looked like a caged animal, ready to strike at any time.

"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" AJ's voiced sounded hollow and icy.

"I didn't want to hurt you or lose you." Sarah explained.

"But why didn't you tell me sooner? Don't you know that I would rather hear the truth from you than seeing it being used as blackmail?"

"I know, but I didn't know how you would react." Sarah whispered, she could see her future falling to pieces. Her future, her world, and her Alex was all fading away from her. "I'm sorry, I guess the engagement is off." Sarah took off her ring and put it on the hood of the car.
