Before Angela knew it, she was at her front door, digging in her bag for her keys. After endless searches, she reached under the doormat and pulled out the spare on. She opened the door. “Dad? Are you home?”
“Mr. Dovane?” Kevin yelled.
“Angel! You’re home!” Mr. Dovane walked into the room, opening his arms, waiting for his daughter to hug him.
“Hi, dad.” Angela walked pass him, without a bit of emotion.
“How was your trip?” He asked, sounding disappointed, but she could see the anger in his eyes. Her father was a good actor - he acts like he’s the most perfect father in front of guests, and he beats Angela up when they’re alone.
“Hi, I’m Kevin Richardson, and this is Nick Carter.” Kevin introduced themselves, the three men exchanged ‘hi’s and shook hands.
Angela tiptoed to her room, didn’t want to see her dad’s talk of how she had been paranoid ever since her mother’s death. Her mother’s death, the phrase dug up buried memories within her. Would things be different if her mother was still alive?
Nick knocked on the door, saved her from giving more thoughts into that idea. “Yeah?”
“Can I come in?”
“Sure!” Angela moved to side so he could come in.
“What happened? Should you be having small talks with my father?” She said bitterly.
“Nah, I’d rather spend time with you.” Nick said under his breath.
“What?”
“Oh, I said I can’t stand long conversions.” Nick covered smoothly. “Are you gonna be okay?” Nick asked, concerned, with a bit of tenderness in his eyes.
“Yeah!” She lied; knowing that Nick didn’t believed her.
“But...” He started, Kevin interrupted him telling Nick that they’re leaving now outside the door.
“Bye!” Nick waved as he got in the car, she waved back, leaning towards the door. She closed it, but leave it unlock for reasons she didn’t even know.
Without a warning, her dad kicked her hard on the stomach as she turned. She fell to the ground to avoid his punch. It didn’t take him long to figure out that she was on the ground, helpless. He started to kick and stamp on her legs, sides, chest, and stomach. Angela grabbed his foot and twisted it as hard as she could. He cried out in pain, giving her a chance to run back to her room. “You can’t hide in there forever!” Her dad yelled, kicking the door. She didn’t bother to reply. She just pushed the door with all her might, stopping him from entering.
