It was funny as hell after watching Mary’s face when Claire snatched the phone off her while she was talking to that dude from earlier. Nicky I think his name was. Claire motioned me to get a piece of paper and a pen so I did. I watched as she scribbled whatever she was scribbling at. I chuckled softly at Mary’s expression of a fish staring at that paper. Good lord, it was as if the pair of them had never seen a guy before! I went into the bathroom and I took a deep breath as I took my dark sunglasses off since I had been wearing them all day and night. I needed to survey the damage that laid on me face. I winced as the glasses scraped against the tender flesh, a tinge of pain coursed throughout my body. I sighed as a bright black and blue bruise showed. My eyes welled up in tears as I remembered my mother but I forced myself not to cry. She wouldn’t have wanted it. Claire walked in the bathroom and swored out loud causing Mary to run in wondering what the hell happened. The girls stood there in shock; I don’t think they realised the extent of my injuries. Good thing they couldn’t see the bruises my clothes covered. “Holy crap M!” “It’s nothing you guys.” Claire spluttered in disbelief after I said that. I explained that this wasn’t the worst I had endured. It was tough when they started asking me questions about my father. I shrugged them off. I was used to what he was giving me I guess. I mean he did abuse me for about 13 years. But I didn’t tell them that. I’m sort of private about that. The girls seemed to notice my reluctance to answer the questions because they backed off. Which was a relief I can tell you that much. We all got ready for bed since we were tired. I changed in the bathroom but not before locking the door in case the girls barged in unexpectedly. I swore a blue streak under my breath as I changed into long pjs bottoms and a long sleeved top. I had some cuts across my stomach and my legs and quite a few bruises. I took off the hairband I had worn letting my long dark hair loose which fell past my shoulders. I kept my head down as I climbed into bed. I cried myself to sleep, curling into a ball. I missed my mother very much but at the same time, I was glad that she was free from the hands of that monster. But I’m also afraid that he would find out where I was and drag me kicking and screaming to his place. It would be over my dead body if he did that. I welcomed the darkness as it overtook me in a restless sleep. I was woken up by the girls singing loudly in the kitchen. I groaned, I wanted to sleep! Good Lord! It was no use going back to sleep because I already woke up. I sighed and I opened the suitcase that I had. I decided to wear my long dark blue jeans and a long sleeved T-shirt that was black with silver graffiti on. I tied my long hair up, since I prefer to keep it up. Actually, I don’t think that neither Claire or Mary has seen my hair down longer than an hour. I grabbed my black sunglasses and placed it on my face and made my way to the bathroom to brush my teeth and get washed. I jumped slightly as the doorbell went off. I frowned when I heard Claire giggling loudly greeting the visitor. I heard the voice and recognised it as Mark’s. Wha? Who in their right minds arrive at 8.30am in the morning?! Ugh! I stepped out of the bathroom and I frowned as I saw Mark but there were four others with him, one who I remembered as Nicky. I kept my face emotionless as I nodded in greeting to them. I wandered in the kitchen and got myself a glass of orange juice. I rolled my eyes behind my sunglasses as I heard Mark asking Claire if I was all right. Would have been easier if he lowered his voice because I heard each word. I walked in as Claire started to explain but I shut her up with a look. “Look, I’m fine. Don’t need to ask my friends if I’m all right. You wanna know if I’m fine. Ask me next time and don’t go behind my back.” I was really annoyed at him, I took a deep breath and I made my way to Mary’s balcony and sighed as I took a deep breath watching the view that was before me. I was aware that someone came onto the balcony and stood beside me asking me if I was all right. I didn’t say anything and I think he got impatient since I wouldn’t answer. I heard him say something in foreign language. I kept my eyes ahead of me. I didn’t trust anyone except for Claire and Mary. I heard him leaving, closing the slider behind him. “She’s impossible to talk to!” “Shane…” “No Mark, she didn’t have the right to treat you like crap. Yous were only asking”
