Chapter 10

“And?”

“And what?”

“What happened next?!”

Amber chuckled softly at her granddaughter who was looking through numerous photo albums of her great grandparents. She looked just like them. Her name was Marie, she had long dark brown hair with blue sparkly eyes eager to know more. Marie had approached her grandmother recently so she could do research on her family tree. She had to do a true-life story for English as a coursework. She was a senior in High school.

She learned that her great grandparents had gotten married but unfortunately they couldn’t have any more children since Emma had a tumour in her womb which she had to have it removed. She had been devastated since she would have loved to have more kids with Mark. However, they were both content with Amber. Westlife had continued to go strong. They had 32 no.1 hits and 10 albums, it was then they decided to quit.

Kian had a long term called Jodie who was ironically both Shane and Emma’s cousin. They never married or had kids. They had died nearly 20 years ago due to an accident. As for Shane, he got married to Gillian, Kian’s cousin funnily enough. He was a father to four kids, one grandson and two great granddaughters. He had died a few years ago due to a heart attack. Gillian died a few weeks later of a broken heart. Amber didn’t know what happened to the last two – Bryan and Nicky. She knew that they had gotten married and had kids. That was about it, which was a shame.

As for Emma, she’s still alive – you can catch her staring out of the window in her wheelchair, waiting for the day when she would see her love again. Weary eyes looked down at her left scrawny hand to see a gold wedded ring. Mark had died in his sleep a month ago – he had suffered no pain. It was peaceful. So tired. Emma could have sworn she heard Mark again next to her as she started to close her eyes, her head slumping forward slightly. She let out her last breath and opened her eyes to see him again. He reached out and helped her up. They both looked young again. Their spirits disappeared together overjoyed at seeing one another again or they had missed each other so.

It was a few weeks after the funeral that Marie had completed her coursework. She sat back, staring at her work of her family tree wiping a few tears. It was hard work but she had finally completed and she was proud of it. As a result after numerous late nighters, there laid generations of Filans, Feehilys, Egans,. McFaddens and Brynes. They were considered family. Various generations were still alive. It wasn’t until a month or so later that Marie received her grade for her hard work.

She had gotten A+.
