Gen 23: Sir Alexander Freville married Jane Cromwell.
Sir Alexander Freville, husband of Jane Cromwell who was the niece of Joan Mortein and grand-daughter of Sir Philip. Sir Alexander and his wife assigned Tamworth Castle to their son Baldwin in 1323 on the condition that they were to be allowed to live in it for the rest of their lives.
He was the last holder of the Castle to perform the office of Royal Champion; he appeared in this role at the Coronation of Edward III in 1327. The youngest daughter of the last of the Marmions had been granted her father's estate at Scrivelsby, and her successors claimed successfully that the office of Royal Champion was attached to that Manor and not to Tamworth Castle. Gen 22: Sir Baldwin Freville held the Warwickshire part of Tamworth by grant from Edward II from 1317 to 1319, when the King granted it to the burgesses.
Gen 21: Sir Baldwin Freville married Ida de Montfort.
In 1348 he quarrelled with the burgesses, who besieged him in his castle and cut off all supplies of food for some time. He fought in wars with France, where he died, having spent his later years there. Ida de Montfort.
Gen 20: Sir Baldwin Freville II was born 1350/1351. He died 1387/1388. Baldwin married Joyce de Botetourt.
He lost his claim to act as Royal Champion at the coronation of Richard II in 1377, when it was adjudged that the right was attached to the manor of Scrivelsby in Lincolnshire, an estate which had descended through the Marmion family. Joyce de Botetourt was born 1368.

Gen 17: Elizabeth Freville was born 1398 in Tamworth Castle Tamworth Staffordshire England. She died after 1418. Elizabeth and her sister Margaret were co-heiresses of Sir Baldwin's estate. Elizabeth married Sir Thomas Ferrers 6 Jan 1457/1458 in England. Sir Thomas Ferrers was born 1395. Tamworth Castle was assigned upon a partition of the estates of Sir Baldwin; heiresses automatically transferred their rights to their husbands. He made Tamworth Caste his principal residence.
