Family Learning Workshops Boost Family Involvement!

Are you concerned about students’ academic achievement? Today’s families are facing enormous challenges in raising their children. Many parents, with busy and stressful lives, spend little time in positive interaction with their children. At the same time, research indicates that family involvement in

children’s learning is a critical factor in building academic success. What can you do? Most families are willing to spend more time helping their children learn -  but only if they realize its importance and if they are SHOWN how to help and given appropriate guidance and encouragement. Our workshops can help you in this process.

Workshops for your entire family involvement team - administrators, teachers, family coordinators, and parent volunteers

Make Reading Fun!     This workshop offers a detailed plan for family reading and book-sharing — using activities that make reading enjoyable for both adults and children. Handout masters and transparencies in Spanish are available; also two videos in English and one in Spanish. Show Parents How to Help Their Children Learn at Home      This workshop provides a wealth of tutoring strategies and learning activities and games you can use to SHOW parents how to provide a learning environment for their children — at home, in the neighborhood, or in the car. Topics include reading, math, spelling, thinking skills, science, social studies, & writing. Internet resources are included in the manual. Our full-day workshops are lively and fun, and participants take home materials to use with their families. Saturday bookings can sometimes be arranged. -  Help Your Children Learn at Home — for families of children in pre-K - grade 6 - Aprendiendo Juntos - in Spanish for families of children, K - grade 4 - Sit and Learn — for families of children, ages 3-7 -  How to Help a Beginning Reader with Spelling, Writing, and Reading —   for families of children, ages 6-9.

Evening workshops are available at a discount when a consultant comes to your community to present an all-day workshop.
