Dear
Family and Friends,
Christmas
1999 is almost here! By the time you
receive this, we all will have celebrated Jesus’ birth; hope yours was a warm
and wonderful experience.
The
truth that 1) we’re creatures with an eternal destiny and 2) this world is not
our home has been made especially real to us during the past 16 months. My mother, Berneita Reynolds, went home to
Glory August 28, 1998. Dad was here
with us last Christmas. (I remember
sitting in the van in front of Lyons restaurant. Dad told me he thought Jesus returning to Earth would happen soon
but he didn’t think he would be here to see it happen. Perhaps the Lord had given dad a glimpse of
“things to come”.) Dad went into the
hospital after he returned home and graduated to Glory on January 29, 1999. We rejoice with mom and dad that they’re
together with the Lord for eternity but we miss them here and we’re working
through the grieving and transition process.
Here
are quick glimpses of our lives:
- Kristen Leigh Reynolds
was born Oct. 19, 1998. She celebrated last Christmas with grandpa. A day or two after this Christmas, she
may get to visit with grandma (Cindy’s mother) and the Bott family
(Cindy’s sister and family).
- Andrea is nine years
old and is enjoying school at William Buckley, trombone lessons, and dance
lessons. She was able to spend
parts of the last three days with her cousins—Heather and Brianna. We
joined my brother and his family at Lake Arrowhead, CA for part of their
annual Christmas holiday celebration.
- Nate is fourteen years
old and a freshman at Monache High School. He’s especially enjoying his conceptual physics class and
computer studies. He and Jason
enjoy computer and card games.
Nate honed his downhill skiing skills while we were at Lake
Arrowhead.
- Jason is 17 years old
and finishing his second full-time year at Porterville College. He’s refining his business skills while
working at “All About Ice Cream”.
While we were at Lake Arrowhead he became the first in our family
to venture into snowboarding.
- Cindy is home again as
full-time mom. She enjoys biking,
reading and spending time with family and friends. She also hopes to get back into school
to work on a masters degree…. we’ll see!
- I’m (Steve) still
working with Porterville Unified Schools—teaching science and serving as
the Middle and High School Home/Hospital Instructional Services program
coordinator. This has been a
difficult year for me – I’m learning a lot about my family, my world, and
myself.
