The attack had come out of nowhere, startling the two siblings. One moment, Ariel had heard a rustling sound, and the next a large paw and grabbed onto Skylar. Upon instant contact, Skylar had been transformed into a large, hairy wolf-beast. A ware-wolf.
Ariel stood in shock, unable to move, unable to think. Her older brother, was a warewolf. How was one supposed to react to that?
"A-Ariel? What's happened to me?" Skylar asked uncertainly, looking at his hands which shook with fear.
Ariel could only look at him. What was going on?
"Ariel! Skylar!" the voice of Cresent DiVoccae resounded through the park until she reached the area where they stood.
"Oh my..." Cresent said once she got there. Ariel could see the strange glow in her eyes that was fear.
"Cresent, what's wrong with him? One minute..." Ariel started, cut off when her brother turned around sharply, his eyes glowing yellow at her.
"A warewolf. Awesome. I've heard of the transformations, I've just never seen one before." Cresent explained, walking around Skylar, who growled in response.
"Is there a cure?" Skylar asked gruffly as Cresent stopped circling and frowned at him, one arm wrapped around her chest, the other under her chin.
"Silver bullets, a bite or scratch from another warewolf... or a certain dosage of wolfsbane. Wolfsbane is an herb that is extremely... deadly... when one is without the disease. Of course, since I've never heard of this happening, I don't know for certain. But I do know that you have one week to take it, or one of the other remedies, before becoming a full-fledged werewolf."
Ariel wondered if it was just pure luck that Cresent knew a lot about herbs, ancient mythology and cultures, and strange creatures ranging from Dragons to werewolves.
"So what are we going to do?" Ariel asked as her brother transformed once again into his normal self.
"For the moment, I'd think we should be cautious and go back to the orphanages. Tomorrow, we'll discuss this. But we can't let anyone know. Anyone." Cresent replied seriously.
For the briefest of moments, Ariel could have sworn she had felt something, a prescence, telling her that there was something more to them. Something... different.
