Ariel was walking alone in the woods when she heard a noise in the bushes. She started walking faster when, suddenly, the noise because louder. She stopped. It sounded like a boy, wheezing. She crept toward the bushes and…

"Ariel! Ariel! Wake up!" said Cresent, one of her best friends in the

orphanage, "It's time for our daily promise, then breakfast!" The ‘promise’ was to run from anyone who adopted them.

Ariel joined hands with her other two best friends, Taise and Shaou, then said, "I hereby promise to run, flee, skip and jump away from all those who wish to keep us imprisoned in our own heck, away from reality, kept in our own minds, away from our friends."

"And our brothers." She added.

Ariel had a brother, Skylar. He had his 3 friends, and in many ways was

just like Ariel. The only differences was his physical appearance. He had blue eyes, blondish hair and was one year older. Everyone else was an 'only child.'

Skylar usually climbed the gutter drain, but then the rest of the girls went somewhere over night (Ariel and her friends made a lot of trouble and didn't go anywhere fun because, simply, they were banned from it.)

Skylar would go to the door and knock. Then they would go to the park across the road and talk. That was always the plan in summer-time.

In winter they went to school, so she saw him mostof the time. She also saw her boyfriend, Joel. He was always quiet.

"Where do we meet to night?" Skylar asked Ariel, sneaking up behind her.

"In the park." Ariel replied. Little did she know she was going to regret it.

Nightfall came and soon it was ten o' clock, Friday. It was then Skylar climbed down the gutter drain. At the girls orphanage, Ariel did the same.

They met by the slide. Ariel only had five minutes to see Skylar fully human ever again…
