House of Blues, Anaheim, CA

14th March 2002

Wow! I wish all the fans who saw (or didn't see...) the Damned play in front of the Zombie tour could have been with us in Anaheim on the 14th to see them headline at the House of Blues.

It was a great show! The whole band was in fine form and the show seemed even more energetic than the last time I saw 'em back at the U.S. Grave Disorder release party in September 2001. Patricia was definitely missed, but Warren seemed to get on fine with the rest of the band. I was having way too much fun to make a real set list, (can anyone help?), but I believe I recall excellent renditions of Democracy, Song.com, 13th Floor Vendetta, Nasty, Thrill Kill, Plan 9 Channel 7, New Rose, She, Would You Be So Hot?, Absinthe, I Fall, Neverland, Wait for the Blackout, Neat Neat Neat, Smash It Up, Eloise and a big surprise- "Jet Boy Jet Girl" from the Captain!!! The mix of older and newer songs really made things exciting and the whole set was terrific! Even the repressiveness of the HOB security couldn't deter the crowd's exuberance.

After the show, the band chatted with fans by the upstairs bar and obligingly signed a vast array of Damned paraphernalia. I had such a great time that I'm still grinning... Let's do it again soon!
