Waterfront, Norwich
Monday 25th November 2002
We were at Cambridge the night before and as Froggy says...brilliant. Got a set list so the full running order was: Street of Dreams, Nasty, Thrill Kill, I Fall, Disco Man, Happy, Democracy, Amen, 13th Floor, Ignite, Song.com, Under The Floor Again, She, Neat Neat Neat, and encore of Would You Be So Hot, Eloise and Smash It Up.
Met Nitegirrl in pub plus Maff and Wayne in gig so Hi!! Went with PSJ and Scary Freak so Hi to them again.
NORWICH WATERFRONT
Didn't think Cambridge would be beaten but this was excellanto man!! Sound was fantastic at the venue packed to capacity [almost].
Same set as Cambridge except Thrill Kill was played in between 13th Floor and and Ignite instead of 2nd and the encore was Would You Be So Hot, Eloise, Love Song and Smash It Up.
HIGHLIGHTS
Chatting to the Captain, Pinch and Monty in the "Ferryboat" before and hearing some people saying "The damned- they play 30 second songs don't they!!!!!"
Pippi holding Daves hand during Love Song [swoon]
The guy they pulled out of audience to sing New Rose cos he thought the drums at beginning of Would You Be So Hot was New Rose. Dave sat on a box and let him sing away for a couple verses.
Someone else invited on stage to sing Love Song
Getting signed set list and chatting to Monty for 20 mins after.
Patricia telling Pippi [after she told her how brilliant Cambridge was] that her Bass amp was fucked during most of gig.
What a performance though musically, Disco Man was awesome... Amen, She, Neat Neat Neat ...brillianto. And Would You Be So Hot, Love Song and SMASH IT UP WHICH MUST BE THE BEST "live" punk song ever!!!!
THANK YOU The Damned... this is what it is all about, fantastic music and stage prescence, brilliant banter between band and audience, brilliant inter-action with fans before, during and after gig plus never forgetting us...the fans.... before amen Dave said "I'd like to thank you the fans for putting the bread on our tables for 25 years"

Another...
In 26 years I've never seen these Boys play tighter, or enjoy themselves more, than witnessed on Monday.
Vanian, cool as ever in leopardskin trimmed jacket with a 50's style mic, and Sensible seem to defy the ravages of time, while Patricia brings a sexy sophistication, Monty contributes bonkers dancing and Pinch tops it off with an awesome tattoo collection.
All our favourites were played, with the exception of New Rose, which seemed to be dropped in favour of I Fall from the first album. No complaints from me on that one.
Highlights were the heckler brought on stage to tell us, in no uncertain terms, that the Damned were the greatest punk band of them all, who then did backing dancing to the next song, and "Phil Collins" who came on to sing Love Song.
Great to talk to Cap, Monty and Pinch after the show, and witness an impromptu performance of Snooker Loopy from a very happy Mr Burns.
All
in all a very special evening.
