Randalls Island, New York City, NY
(Part of the Warped Tour)

Worth it! Go!
No set time: When the "Circus" of bus caravans as Cap calls it, arrives at the lot, everyone's name is put in a hat for a drawing. This helps it so no one band is always given the fuzzy end of the lollypop, stuck being first or last all tour.
Setlist: changes everyday if they can help it! Cap, Pinch and all were tossing ideas for Asbury around after their set. Some good'uns too!
The Show itself: Really is a "festival". Yeah, the bands, the different stages, the very various merch and socially conscious booths, and kids everywhere exploring it all. But this has a more "festive" atmosphere then most. Lotsa playing and goofing around going on, and that's just the band for starters! The kids are great! The old guard like me, was way out-numbered by the teen punters who LOVED the Damned and even bought cd's and shirts!
The heat has been brutal to the east coast here, but they were better prepared. Trucks with Free water to fill your bottles up with (not like $5 water at Woodstock). Geysers of water to run thru, and a Hertz Big Barrel truck driving around like a big sprinkler. Seeing Captain go running after the truck to douse himsel was cute. But then he came back to the merch booth and looking at a shirt taped on the table, decided thatr the omnipresent dust (Randalls was totally burned out. All the grass was dead straw and there were dirt clowds flying around) would put people off from buying the shirts. So he took it and put it on over his wet "Racist's Suck" (I think that's what it said) shirt. When the next kid came by to buy one, Cap offered the dirty one right off his back. This kid couldn't have been more than 15, and he was thrilled and put it on himself right off! Good job Cap!
Everyone was having a pretty good time. Cap and Patricia hung out at the merch booth alot! Signing shirts and CD's. Captain also handed out grapes to everybody! You should have seen the looks on the surprised teens!
I highly reccomend bring a few extra bucks if you can, to Merch Mistress Jed! They have a truly cool selection and ALL SHIRTS ARE ONLY TEN DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good quality T-shirsts in sizes from girlie T to XL.
Along with the classic goth letter Damned shirt, there are two NEW Classics! One is a Heaven and Hell Bride and Groom toasting their devious luck in glorious detail by the imnitable Vince Ray! The next has a Vincent Price kind of spooky guy in a Turban and spider webs, with wierd sound waves coming from it. In small creepy little letters, it says "it's not just noise..." This treasure was designed by Vanian himself! Can you beat ten bucks a pop? Tell Jed I sent you!
Other good news, the band has a decent bus this time! They are really enjoying themselves. Miranda was there with Pinch, she's a real knockout! The festival is fun. Security is cool. If you do a summer show, this is how to do it!
GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
