Cane's Bar & Grill, San Diego, CA
Sunday 27th October 2002
What a difference 7 months and a change of venue back to their familiar hangout at 'Canes Bar & Grill' by the beach in San Diego makes.
Last time in town on the support slot for Rob Zombie at Cox Arena, the Damned played probably the worse show Id ever seen them do. Of course they were playing in a half-empty mammoth sports arena where the fans that did show up early werent into them and the Damned werent into it either. That was a waste of everybodys time and money.
Last nights show at Canes was quite the opposite. There was a good turnout on a Sunday evening and this time the Damned were back in their element and played with blistering enthusiasm. Dave was all over the stage dancing, twirling and dropping to his knees on occasion.
Captains guitar work was tasteful and under control. As others have noted, seeing him play Under the Floor Again was a highlight. He spotted a few lovely females in the front row and noted "thats why Pinch has moved to San Diego."
Patricia was better than ever. She played confident and looked happy considering the recent loss in her family. She was bouncing up and down to the beat, took center stage a couple times and thumped her bass wildly, promptly quieting her critics who say she can not play bass very well. Believe me she has her own style and its great!!
Overall it was a great performance and it made it easy for me forget about their last one. Rob who?

Absolutely Brilliant! I have no other words to describe such a powerful and mesmerizing evening with the Damned.
I
have been a fan for almost 20 years and yes, this is the first time I have
seen them live. I grew up in Liverpool and I remember seeing them on Top
of the Pops when I was young kid; even then, I was enamored by their sense
of composition, style and artistry.
Now, almost 20 years later and immigrating to America in 1986, this show brought
back so many memories.
Thank you for playing my all time favorite "Disco Man" and
for being so energetic on stage. It's been a week and I still have a grin
on my face when I think about the show.
The Damned are the best band of all time. Thank you for making my year.
p.s. Dave looks so handsome!
