Would
you believe it! I got stuck in traffic on the M25 on the way to this one too.
After a mad rush to make up lost time got there in plenty of time to catch
Teasing Lulu's set.
I liked them and I do believe I've never seen a drummer wallop her kit (ooer
Missus) as hard as their Serena does. Just to prove it she managed to split
the skin on her snare drum and had to borrow a new snare from 4ft Fingers.
Talking of 4ft Fingers, they aren't bad either - sophisticated charmer
I may be but I liked their last song with the chorus of "La, La, La,
La, La, O, Oi, Oi" a lot.
On came The Damned with a rip through Ignite, Disco Man and
the others from this tour's set. History of the World sounds like it's
been there for years (can it really only be last year it entered the live
repertoire?) and gets a very appreciaitive reaction from the crowd. Just to
show what a professional he is, Dave managed to change his faulty mic during
Democracy, going via Captain's mic on its stand and then swapping for
a fresh hand held one without missing a beat.
This review's a bit on the short side as a lot of water has gone the bridge
since I saw this gig and things have been a bit blurry and I seem to have
forgotten what I meant to have written. Suffice to say that the band were
in their usual flying form, put on yet another great show (I've yet to see
them do a dud one) and seemed to enjoy themselves a lot.
