Fiendfest - 4th & B, San Diego

Thursday 24th July 2003

After the catastrophe of the Rob Zombie tour, this hook-up with the so-called Misfits is a little better. The Damned received a nice warm reception from the modest turnout in San Diego. Too bad the Dickies got dropped from tonight’s bill (and maybe the tour) as they would have given the audience another group to enjoy. $25 is a bit steep for only one decent band.

The show started at 7 pm and the Damned took the stage at 9 pm sharp. Things were status quo for the Damned which means another solid performance despite their set being reduced to 55 minutes due to the “fest” billing.

Captain wore his red baret, McShit t-shirt and cow-print pants, Pinch sported a red mohawk, Patricia was all in black, Monty wore his skull t-shirt and Dave, showing early signs of a thin moustache, was outfitted in a stylish suit.

They truly rocked out. Captain’s blistering guitar work was the highlight.
