Harley Owners' Group, Fakenham
Saturday 24th July 2004
I never thought I'd write a Damned review that featured the phrase "Went down like a lead balloon" but sad to say there's no other way to put it!
What the Harley gang really needed was a good Rock covers band rather than the rather specialised offerings of our Heroes.
Anyway, it was a unique experience to be able to stand at the front of the stage with only a few other disciples, before there was a 15 foot expanse of empty floor until there stood a few bemused bikers.
The boys put on a good show as usual, giving as good as they could considering the dire atmosphere. At the end of the main set we had the strange sight of Mr Vanian shouting for an encore at the side of the stage!
Anyway, I'm pleased to see normal service was resumed the next night at the Rock Cafe. A special thanks to The Cap for speaking to my mate Terry, who couldn't make the gig, on his mobile earlier in the evening. To say it freaked him out would be an understatement!
