MANCHESTER - ACADEMY MDH
Saturday 4th December 2004

Lights, cameras, action!

Yes, a film crew was in attendance for this gig at the Academy, capturing all the fun and mayhem for a future DVD release, and they certainly picked a cracker, with the band looking and sounding great, and the audience playing their part too by providing a typically enthusiastic response.
Not that enthusiasm is hard to muster when The Damned are in town, especially when they are celebrating the 25th anniversary of Machine Gun Etiquette and playing most of the tracks from it.

It was great to hear the title track and Jet Boy Jet Girl being played - it was the first time I'd heard them play either of them live - but I was a bit disappointed that they didn't play These Hands, which apparently they had performed on earlier dates. That was pretty much the only gripe, though, on what was a memorable night. Noise Noise Noise sounded especially good, and it was great to hear Love Song played with its full intro.

Now I just can't wait to re-live the whole occasion when the DVD comes out!

The set list was:

Love Song
Machine Gun Etiquette
I Just Can't Be Happy Today
Antipope
New Rose
I Fall
History of the World Part One
Looking At You
Would You Be So Hot?
Magic Potion
Absinthe
Ignite
