The Quest, Minneapolis, MN
10th October 2001
An EARLY evening show (straight from work! gah!) at the club formerly known as Glam Slam, was an overwhelming success according to the fans I've connected with. (Although I gather from Cappy's tour log, that it was not one of the band's favorite shows. So sad. Hopefully next time will be better!)
The band played the set pretty much as Captain has it listed in the tour log, and they played the hell out of 13th Floor Vendetta, Amen and She and naturally rocked the socks off the audience with the whole show. (Amen was amazing...)
Sadly, there was a trio of old punks in the audience who decided at one point that they needed to share their musical tastes with the band, and proceeded to shout "no more new sh*t." Needless to say, other members of the audience were none too pleased. No fights ensued, but Tim the roadie (go Tim! We're behind you 100%!) looked like he was going to take a few of them outside to show 'em what's what.
Good fun after the show gabbing with Jen and Pinch, and the Captain outside (hello to the cool Canadians who drove down for the show, Dodie and Andy!) and the whole thing was over by 9:45. Good for the aging hipsters, but also not late enough to be fully off our heads. (luckily some of us made a quick exit to the bar at this point.)
A brilliant show (how could it be anything but), although I have to say, perhaps a different venue next time!

Another.....
I
very muched liked the gig in Minneapolis - very loud and very funny.
Perhaps it could have had better sound quality but I liked it anyway because
noise is for heroes. An extremely under-rated act I think and there wasn't
nearly enough people there, although I know plenty of others who would have
enjoyed to see them but just weren't around.
I
didn't have any idea they'd be so nice speaking to them afterwords and some
drunk wouldn't leave the Captain alone. At least I know they'd rather stop
here than Milwaukee - I love the Damned and this was all that I hoped for
and more out of them and just knowing they could've sounded better perhaps
in another venue is all
the more comforting.
Perhaps it ruins my credibility being that it was my first live Damned experience but I don't think there is another act that can compare to theirs. So being that it's something completely different makes it a perfect act as it is. I very much hope that they return sometime soon.
