TJ's - Newport
21st November 2001
I
don't have much time to write a long review, I just want to say they were
excellent!!!
Downsides:
- About
3 power failures during the set.
- People
who insist on ignoring the warning about throwing beer (there are always
some - why?)
- The
T-shirt prices (though, to be fair, the GD CD was only £12 for anyone
that didn't already have it.)
Upsides:
-
Support bands Dry Riser and Spankboy (both excellent.)
-
The Damned, their entire set (including Cap/Monty's "Happy Talk")
their sense of humour...etc, etc.
-
Hearing the GD songs live for the 1st time since GD was released (i.e.
the 1st time since really getting to know them.)
- The
band's refusal to let the power failures spoil the night (helped by the
audience singing "Song.com" until it came back on.) To quote
Capt - "Pay the electricity bill you b#*!&#*s."
- The
very small number of beer throwers.
- Capt
coming over to our side of the stage to shake hands with the missus (not
the 1st time either.)
-
Cans of Becks with 13 & 1/2% extra at the bar.
The
setlist was as previous dates on this tour.
Come
back to T.J's! We'll make sure the electric's turned on!
