The Waterfront - Norwich

30th November 2001

You could forgive the Damned for maybe not giving 100% on their last gig of the UK tour and after a long US tour as well. Not this line up! The band gave there all with power and passion that other bands could not possibly achieve.

As expected they opened up with Democracy, from opening lines "did you notice that just recently in London town" the crowd went bananas, including myself Ellie and Eloise. All the new stuff is standing up really well and the punters appreciated it. Thrill Kill is a masterpiece and is even better live, especially this much harder version they do at gigs. Absinthe is another quality song which is fantastic live. Have I forgotten Amen? This is pure class and once again when this line up play it live its even better than on the album.

We got treated of course to some old stuff as well, the usual in fact but once again played with vigour and venom. Eloise was made up again as it seemed that the Damned actually played Eloise for her. Curtain Call was also played, perhaps for the first time on this tour, as expected the crowd loved this one, goes without saying that I love this one!

Smash It Up signalled the end of this UK tour. Cant wait for the London gig. The Damned are on top of their game at the moment, you wouldn't think they have been going 25 years. Lets hope, no lets pray they keep going for a long time to come!

Long live THE DAMNED.
