Roseland Theatre - Portland, OR
23rd September 2001
WOW! The show was amamzing.
My Wife and I were looking forward to this tour long before a Portland date was even set, and The Damned did not let us down. Dave's voice is so strong & smooth and Captain's guitar work was spot on as always. The sound at the Roseland was good that night too (not always the case). Thanks guys for playing "13th Floor Vendetta".
Note to all: See this Tour! Buy the new record!

Another......
It was some 25 years ago when I first saw The Damned at The Mabuhay Gardens in San Francisco. That was a show I'll never forget.
The group took to the stage with Captain Sensible wearing nothing but a pair of high top tennis shoes, sunglasses and nothing else! As the show progressed, the "punks" up front at the stage were spitting at the boys and I guess they thought that they were getting the best of The Damned until the good Captain lifted his guitar and pissed all over those wankers, HA! From that moment on I new that The Damned weren't only a great band to listen to, but also a great band to see live. Over the next years I continued to try and see The Damned when I could.
I'm an old fart of 45 now, with two little wanks of my own and it had been some time since I saw The Fabulous DAMNED, needless to say I was so happy to find out that the band was still going strong and that they had a new album coming out!
Well I got "Grave Disorder" and if you haven't heard it yet, get off your ass and GET IT!!! Take it from a guy whose been listening to this band since the beginning, IT'S FUCKIN' GREAT!!
Well enough of my ramblings, what about the show? The Damned were and are still a great live band! The show was so tight and jumping, the best I can remember seeing in years. The line up looks great on stage and the Capt. and Dave look and sound better than ever! As Captain Sensible said between numbers, "Not bad for a bunch of old farts, eh?...I'd like to see the Back Street Boys do that!" (The Damned will still be alive and kicking, when those "Boys" are dead and buried in pop star has-been hell, which I hope is soon.) The mix of old and new tunes during their set was incredible, aside from a few "posers" that tried to jump on stage during the show, there were no mishaps, besides it was fun watching those cunts get socked in the balls by the security goons. The group opened with "Democracy" and closed with "Smash It Up", and we still wanted more.
I hope The Damned never go away and that they plan on more recording and touring when this tour is over. I'm really glad that they decided to tour, we all needed a little lift after all the tragedy that's been here in America these past few weeks.
Thank You DAMNED, and Bless you all for a great new album and a wonderful night out!
Sincerely,
Your Fan Forever,
PS. (Captain, I was the guy at the stage with the crazy sunglasses.)
