Commodore
Ballroom - Vancouver, BC
21st September 2001
This
was my first ever time seeing the Damned and it couldn't have been a better
time.
The show was absolutely amazing the new songs all sound great and the crowd was soooooooo into it ...in fact two encores ...should be proof they were well liked. I lost my voice from screaming like mad and singing to the best of my ability. They opened with Democracy and closed with Love Song, if I remember correctly, and that would be the second encore. I'm still skaking today ...so that is how excited I was, and am, and damn it was sooooo good. Old songs I remember them playing were Love Song, Wait For The Blackout, New Rose, Eloise..I think a few more ...plus the songs from Grave Disorder...
Monty was dressed in his stylish skull shirt and spandex? I forget *L* Captain was dressed in all leopard skin print it was great ...I brought my brother who hasn't heard much Damned, and he said he's never been to a show that good EVER EVER before...I agree...I've never had that good of a time ever before... The band was nice enough to sign my shirt too ..which was totally awesome of them hehe.. Got to talk to Capt, Monty and Pinch a bit, it was good. Dave and Pat were a bit shy I reckon....but that's ok ..
Over
all it was truely amazing and I'm going to get a job so I can try and get
cash to get to more of their shows *L*

This
show absolutely blew me away. Fscking amazing.
They
played most of the new album, with the older stuff mixed in. I felt compelled
to jump into the mosh when New Rose came on. Let me tell you this,
the version they played of Eloise fscking near brought tears to my
eyes. They were so hot. This was my first Damned show after being a fan for
so many years, so it was a bit like coming home, djanowadimean? The thing
about a Damned show, it seemed to me, was that it was a bit like them inviting
you into their home and being absolutely the best hosts you could ever conceive
of. The Commodore isn't huge, but it's big enough, yet they made it seem like
they were playing in their living room. So comfortable. They make it feel
as though they're playing to each and every person, rather than a crowd. I
don't know if that makes sense, but it was absolutely the most intimate gig
I've ever been to. They played Smash It Up...then the lights went up
and suddenly we were listening to the Fifth Dimension over the PA. Hee hee.
Crowd roars, yells, cheers, claps, stomps, and they're back...two encores.
I'll tell you this, you couldn't meet nicer people, and there isn't a better
band in the world.
