Rios - Bradford
15th December 2000
A
bit of a strange one this, I went on my own as my mate had other arrangements
£12.50 is a bit steep but what the hell it is the damned after all I timed
it just right as the support band were just finishing(sorry all you budding
young music makers but I'm to old to be bothered with support bands).
Anyway the set started very well new rose got things going once Dave and the
Captain questioned where everyone was the worst turnout I've ever witnessed
at a Damned gig (possibly the £12.50 boys not your fault I know) blackout
disco man followed then democracy a new song which gets better every time
I here it. Also song.com another great new song.
Things were going great up to this point until a few bars into looking at
you some twat decide to share half a pint with pinch from thirty foot away.
The result being a halt in proceedings whilst Patricia of all people(but obviously
as equally vulnerable as pinch when missiles start to fly) pointed out who
threw it and offered him on stage to let pinch return the soaking which he
did but unfortunately the offender out stayed his welcome on stage and was
promptly shoved from the stage by Patricia. At some point in all of this a
girl who was at the front got knocked to the floor resulting in an ambulance
being called and a few anxious moments for Patricia who believed herself to
be to blame personally.
From where I was stood the arse who through the beer was at fault for the
whole incident any way.
Once the girl had been treated and taken to hospital (does anyone know how
she is?) the show carried on not quite in the same manner as earlier but still
a great conclusion to the set. Plan9/she/13th floor vendetta/ neatneatneat,
the encore was not really of classic proportions, love song the best forgotten
eloise and the inevitable smash it up but with the delay all the disco boys
and girls had arrived for their late night fix and to be honest Rios is a
crap place to be at 1130 when the bands are usually of stage and the videos
screens are down.
All in all if the pint hadn't been thrown the gig wouldn't of over run the
students wouldn't have come in while the band were on and the encore would
of been as good as the rest of the gig. Thanks a lot you stupid c**t.
