I love watching Where The Action Is. I have about 40 episodes on VHS. I would love to trade with other collectors. I developed a crush on Tina Mason all over again. I remember when I was about 8 years old, I used to tell my friends that I had to go in to watch ACTION. They would get mad at me, especially when we were in the middle of a baseball game. I love the low budget production values of that great show. The way they used to cut to the kids clapping off beat with that out of sync soundtrack. N thin' better! Wanna trade, drop me a line and if you like obscure oldies, check out my page for this wacked out comp I released a couple of years ago. Great stuff. CHEAPNESS rules. John

What a great web site! I too am a huge Fang fan. Janice I am so jealous. I would give anything to include Phil & Tina in my circle of friends. I'm happy to say that I'm an aquaintance of Mark & Deb Lindsay (but I won't claim I truly a friend). I spent all 4 years in high school wearing a plastic c nine tooth on a chain around my neck to show the world my undying devotion to Phil. I still have my diary from 1967 and I don't think there is anything in it that doesn't mention Phil, the Raiders, or WTAI. I've also been collecting Raider music since 1965 and own every album & 45 I could find from "Like Long Hair" to the present rereleases. But my most treasured albums are "Brotherhood", "Brotherhood, Brotherhood", and "Joyride". I'd really like to thank you for your website. And I'd love to thank Phil for making my teen years so full of wonderful fond memories. Fang Forever! Love, Denise

Thanks for the insite on one of my favorite bands and for providing me information on this particular Rock and Roll Legend Mr. Volk. I lived in Boise, Idaho from 1967 to 1976. So basically I grew up neighbors with Paul Revere, during his, and the bands mo t prolific period. I rediscover the Raiders music every so often, and right now I am doing it again. I picked up a copy of Columbia's newest CD of the Band's music. Paul Revere and the Raiders Greatest Hits. Some of my favorite songs were not on it, but i is still a pretty good collection. I regret missing the reunion concert, but I am glad they did it. The band is totally awesome !.

As a starstruck 15 year old in 1966, I fell in love with Phil Volk. My then best friend (now my sister in law) had it for Harpo. I absolutely loved the Raiders but Phil was my guy. He and I both had the same big front teeth. I loved the way he bounce round on the stage. Was absolutely thrilled to see pictures of how he looks today. Still great! I'm sure he won't remember but the Raiders played Baltimore in 1966 at the Civic Center and my sister in law and I chased the Raiders bus down around the corner. Phil opened his window and talked to me. As you can see, I'm an Elvis person but I always loved the Raiders. Saw them in Dundalk this past July at the Heritage Fair and my 18 year old absolutely loved them. I asked Paul about Phil and he told me the to get on the web site and also said that Phil lives in Las Vegas. I would love for the "new" Raiders and "old" Raiders to come together for a show, but if it happens please come to Baltimore. I've been waiting a long time. Thanks for all the memories.

love your site. it answered a lot of the questions I had about what ever happened to phil and the group. I to used to watch where the action is everday after school.I have the very first album where phil played on half and mike holiday on the other and th greatest hits cd. I loved his bass line on hungery,I learned it note for note its so cool to play even now. I would love to ask him some questions, like does he still have his old vox bass guitar still and what ever happened to the old vox amps thay used n stage? I saw them back in 65 or 66 i'm not sure thay came to baltimore to play at the civic center. I was hanging out with my brothers frends at a music store and a phone call came through that thay needed two practice amps delvered to the civic center we were told to go to the stage door and ask for hauss he was there stage manger at the time. he invited us in and we got to stand back stage and watch the first part of the show. it was the where the action show with steve alamno, keith allison, tina mass on.I did see paul revere, and mark linsley but I was to scared to say anything to them. when it was time for the show we had to take seats we could not stand back stage.but thay gave us great seats and what a great show thay were fanstic, thay played all th re hits and sounded just like the record I was so impressed I still think about it to this day. and I still can see fang turn his guitar over and it saying FANG on the back.so cool. I was probbly 14or15 then. I still love listing to the songs there all gr at but that bass line on hungry still gets me it is so cool.thanks for letting me share a great memory with you. hope i hear from you. I got such "kicks" coming across the web sight! I'm 36, and first discovered the Raiders in the mid seventies while rummaging in record piles at thrift shops. After hearing the band, I spent much time "treasure hunting" in the second-hand stores for more Raiders "treasures". My efforts paid off big time over the years, as I was able to find so many wonderful 45's (with sleeves!)and LP's, too. As a musician, I later had the pleasure of playing in several bands which featured not only Raiders tunes, but cool Vox eqipment as well! My, but those Vox "Teardrop" basses top-heavy! I also have an interesting item, which I'd like to learn about if anyone knows: A "Tri-corner" (black) Paul Revere and the Raiders hat! If you have any idea as to when these were made and where folks got them, I'd appreciate an email. Again, great web sight. Thanks for the effort!

Great site. Loved the pix of the Raiders' '97 reunion rehearsals. I'm a huge fan of the band. BTW, Sundazed just re-released four more Raiders records, each with bonus cuts. In my opinion, "Midnight Ride" is one of the great R&R albums of the '60s. One mo e thing: I read somewhere recently that Will Lee, bassist with The Late Show band, is a big fan of Phil's and cites him as a major influence.

Hey, Phil -- I am very impressed with all you've done over the years developing your music. As a bassist, you really inspired me in the 60's with the killer bass lines, and great full bass sound you put on those great PR&R records. "Baby Please Don't Go is one of my favorite songs of all-time and your version is the best of the best. I love all the versions of it: Them, Amboy Dukes, Muddy Waters, Butterfield, but nothing compares to the maniacal energy you & the Raiders got onto wax on "Just Like US"! It was one of the sublime moments of rock & roll -- thanks for caring and putting so much into that recording!! I played a white Jazz Bass in the 60's, but my new love is a Vox Phantom IV (black/white pickguard) I just love it (would have like a white one like yours--the cooolest bass I ever did see, but couldn't find one!)--but I notice you now play a white Jazz Bass!! Where's the Vox?? Do you still have your PR&R gear? Hope so -- howz come the Fender? Well, you really are my favorite bass player o all-time, and the next time the Wildcats perform this summer I'll be playing my Phantom IV & trying to blow the roof off like you always did! Best wishes to you, Tina & family--hope to see you play someday and say hi. Dick Moore Macomb, IL

Just wanted to say thanks for a really great page, hope you will be adding more pages of stuff in the future! I was a Raiders fan nearly from birth, missed the WTAI days seeing as how I was born in 1966, but my dad and two teenage aunts were fans and I m re or less cut my "musical baby teeth" on the "Here They Come!" album... Fang was always my favorite. Now (at 33) I do music on a fairly regular basis with a couple of very talented guitarists (who are even younger than me) who think Volk/Levin were and are musical geniuses! Way overdue for the Raiders to be inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame! I'm hoping to catch Mark's show in Jackson TN next month, would love to see the rest of the guys come play down Memphis way sometime. Best wishes to the Volk clan, and thanks to the webmistress for a very nice page!

Finally! A FANG PAGE! AAAAAHHH! I am in Raider Heaven, friends. Fang, I'll be honest--You are the absolute BEST BASS PLAYER I have EVER HEARD! I realize that I'm too young to have seen you on "Action," (I'm 22--RATS!)but I love seeing all the old pictures and adore the albums. I did get to see your "Hullabaloo" performances from 1965 and was blown away. You're just too cool for words, my friend. My best friend found the first Brotherhood album and I am intensely jealous of her! She's let me have a listen to it and I love it, too! We're still looking for the others and copies for my collection. I can't decide which of your songs is my favorite--It's a genuine toss-up between "In My Community," "Get It On," and "Woman Unkind"! (I've worn out those particular bands on the vinyl, I'll have you know, and my CDs are begging for mercy!) I used to think Paul McCartney was the best bass player I'd heard, then along comes Phil "FANG" Volk, and he's just the living end! Are you touring soon? I hope so--Please come to Nashville! How about getting Smitty and Drake and Mark down here, too? You know I'd be there, with my best friend in tow because she's a Fang fan, too. (Yes, we have found pictures from the Teen magazines and have them all over our respective walls...) Unfortunately, I'm on borrowed Internet time, so I have no actual Email address, but I'd be more than happy to share my address for Snail Mail! Jaime Hitchcock 4381 Kedron Road Spring Hill, TN 37174 Fang fans (or Fang himself!) please get in touch with me--I'd love to hear some of your stories and see your pictures, too. Thanks for letting me ramble on and on about THE GREATEST BASS PLAYER IN THE WORLD! Fang, you are the best and I love you for it! Best of luck to you always--God bless you!

Several of my friends loved Mark, but Phil was always special to me. I bought every magazine that he was in, memorized every song he sang (even had to special order "The Brotherhood" because I couln't find it) and had his pictures everywhere! I saw them in concert twice and it's some of the best memories of my life.

Hey Uncle Phil- Those pictures are rad. I might not be as big of a fan as Janice being that I wasn't even born when you were performing in the 60's with the Raiders, but for as long as I can remember I have been a huge fan of yours and have always recognized and appreciated being related to such talented people as you and Tina. I'll never forget seeing you in the "Blast" show in Tahoe, trying to catch your eye while you were performing, and being so proud to be your niece. Thanks for all your support an love throughout the years! Love ya' lots!!

Wow!!! These are the first current pictures of Phil I've seen since the early 70's. Nothing's changed -- Phil, you're still a good-looking, charasmatic guy with talent to boot. I didn't realize you had done so many more creative things in "the biz" thr ugh the years. Congratulations on surviving the 60's, 70's, 80's, and now the 90's with pizazz. Sorry I missed the Raiders Reunion on Dick Clark in 1997. Hope it gets rerun someday. By the way, I have the first "Brotherhood" album sitting right here o my shelf. Every so often, I get it out and look at the lyrics and listen to a song or two. It's still a piece of work. And, I have every Raider album made. Phil, you, Drake, and Smitty were the ones who inspired me to give my own creative skills a tur at songwriting. I started writing poetry in 1967 as a 15 year old girl, and at the ripe old age of 38 in 1990, I had my first song published. Although my published work is in sacred music, I love to write pop and progressive country stuff and maybe som day I'll get a cut with my other stuff. Anyway, thanks again for being a lifelong inspiration. Looking forward to seeing what you can do in the next century!! I love these lines: "I knew you before, I'll know you again And the love that we give as long as we live I believe in Forever..." From "I Believe in Forever", c. 1968, Brobrobro Music, recorded by The Brotherhood

Hi Phil, I saw Paul Revere & The Raiders in concert in Huntsville, Alabama in 1967 and it is one of my favorite memories of my teen age years. I am in a wheelchair due to a birth defect and, when the police realized that I couldn't see the stage because of the screaming, jumping teen age girls in the audience, they allowed me to get inside a ring that they had formed around the stage. I was SO close to you and the rest of the group that I could literally lay my hands on the stage. That concert remains one of my all time favorite memories. Farrel
