Virgie Melear is still listed as part of the committee, but hasn’t been able to help for quite a long time. HISTORIANS & AWARDS COMMITTEE – by Moreno & Deanna Balantac

Deanna reported nothing new has been received to be added and the album will be at the Golf event.

OLD BUSINESS

We still do not have a COLLECTIONS chairman.

Trustees Meeting 2009 in Stockton -- For July 25-26-27, 2009, Sat., Sun., Mon. Mel has reserved the Filipino Plaza Social hall and has gotten room information from the Howard Johnson Motel. He said that we need chairpersons to arrange for food, someone for the tour and also for entertainment. Mel has put together a packet of handouts containing a map of Stockton, brochure about the Filipino Plaza, and a magazine about the City of Stockton, which he will mail with a letter to all the Trustees Terri will email the Trustees and the Chapter presidents a “heads up” regarding the dates, so they can make their travel arrangements.

Discussion on 2011/ 2012 National Conference – After some discussion on whether we would plan a conference for 2011 or 2012, it was decided that before we can plan for it, we would need guidelines and manpower, which we do not have. Violet Dutra asked about the guidelines for doing a conference. Mel mentioned that from National, Dorothy Cordova, helps a lot in the planning of a conference and she does much of the work long distance. He previously suggested that it would be a good idea if we did a dry run if we plan to do a conference. The majority agreed that to do one at this time for 2011 or 2012 is a bit too late. So Mel offered to write a letter to National Headquarters to definitely state that we will not hold a conference for 2011 or 2012, but to keep Stockton in mind for a future time.

On the mandatory Insurance for storage units, Mel will check with the Storage unit if the $9.00 for insurance is included in the payments due in May and June (2 units) or is it to be paid separately. It was discussed whether we should look for one larger unit to store what we have in the 2 units and to find a Storage place that has updated security monitors. After discussing what dates for the move and manpower would be available, it was decided that the move probably would not happen for a year. We would need to decide on a new place, get students to help, take inventory, purge and eliminate unnecessary or immaterial items, etc., and get a truck or trailer and extra manpower. We would need to have more time to plan for this.

Complimentary meals for volunteers- Terri Torres asked if we had discussed and accepted the policy she wrote on Complimentary meals. We discussed the policy and all agreed it was well written. One question arose as to how the determination is made as to who merits the complimentary meal if a volunteer puts in very minimal time on a project or an event. Deanna Balantac moved to accept the policy as written and let the Coordinator of the event decide who receives the complimentary meal. Leatrice Perez seconded it. Motion carried.

Filipino Federation Brick - Violet Dutra moved to not do this at this time since we do not have any information on it. Moreno Balantac seconded it. Motion carried.

Our Own LOGO for FANHS, STOCKTON CHAPTER. – Moreno Balantac moved to accept and use the National FANHS logo and just add our name, Stockton Chapter under it. Terri seconded it and she will email Trustee President Joan May Cordova of our decision, and to get her approval. Motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS

Fund Raiser – Rossi Chin presented, as a fund raiser, chocolate covered apples on a stick to sell for about $3.00 or $3.50 at the May 9 Golf Tournament Picnic. She said she could buy about $40.00 worth of apples and ingredients. Mel suggested that for this year, it be included as part of the picnic meal, at no additional cost to the picnickers. If well received, we could later use them as a fundraiser. Deanna moved to allot Rossi the budget of $40.00. Mel seconded it. Motion carried.

Meeting adjourned at 12:15 p.m. Museum meeting immediately followed.

Next Chapter meeting will be May 2, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at DAMERON HOSPITAL ANNEX –NE corner Lincoln & Acacia Streets.
