FANHS STOCKTON CHAPTER MEETING MINUTES FOR June 6, 2009

CALL TO ORDER
President Anita Bautista called the meeting to order at 10:07 A.M. Meeting was held in the Annex Building of Dameron Hospital. Members present: Anita Bautista, Deanna Balantac, Moreno Balantac, Rossi Munar Chin, Leatrice Perez, Loyd Rolle, Mel LaGasca and visitor, Norma Bantillo of Seattle, WA.
Information circulated was a poem written by Anita Bautista; three long rolled up photos of Filipino soldiers in the First Filipino Regiment stationed at Camp Cook, CA. (circa 1942) - from the archives of Deanna Daclan Balantac.
ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES
Minutes of May 2, 2009, Loyd Rolle moved to accept the minutes as distributed and Rossi Chin seconded it. Motion carried.
REPORTS
TREASURER'S REPORT, June 6, 2009 - by Terri Torres
Bank Balances as of 5/31/09
General Chapter Savings = $11,867.82
General Chapter Checking = 404.33
Museum Savings = $22,616.44
Museum Checking = 6,629.33 (6/3/09)
Museum Equipment CD = 11,956.32 (due 3/16/10, div. rate 4.160%)
Museum Building/Misc. CD = 44,307.23 (due 8/15/09, div. rate 1.50%)
Total Museum = $85,509.32
Bill to be paid out of Chapter funds:
May Mailer = $11.39
Some of the Museum Checking amount will be transferred to the Museum Savings account to earn more interest when Terri gets back from vacation, at the end of June.
Loyd moved to accept the treasurer's report and Rossi seconded it. Motion carried.
MEMBERSHIP REPORT June 6, 2009 -- by Violet Dutra
Family -- 47 Seniors – 51 Individuals -- 13 Students -- 1
Total members -- 112 (Sr. member, Olivia Corpuz, renewed membership).
Condolences were sent to Wilma Aguinid on the loss of her brother-in-law, Elmer Aguinid.

July Trustee Meeting - is there anything expected of the Activities Committee?
October Event - Mary Louise has received some raffle prizes, but would like more. Menu still needs to be confirmed with the China Palace. We are waiting for nominations of awardees. Deadline is July 1st.
EDUCATION/EXHIBIT -- by Anita Bautista
Anita took down the exhibits at the Chavez Main Library and the Weston Ranch Library.
Anita Bautista, Rossi Chin, Beverly and Anthony Engkabo attended the Central Valley Asian American Lotus Awards. Jose Bernardo received an award for community service.
On May 20, Anita was the keynote speaker on the Filipino Americans in the USA Military at the Tracy Defense Depot - 100 employees were in attendance. On May 21, Anita was the guest speaker at the Sharpe Army Depot, on the Filipino American Veterans, where another 100 attended.
Anita set up the Fil-Am Veterans display for presentation to Congressmen McNerney and Cardoza.
Rossi Munar Chin, who has been helping Anita with the exhibits and displays, has accepted to be her regular assistant on the Education and Exhibit Committee. THANK YOU, ROSSI.
HISTORIANS --Moreno & Deanna Balantac
There is no report. They are waiting for pictures of the Golf Tournament and any other event anyone can submit to them.
OLD BUSINESS -- There still is no COLLECTIONS chairperson.
On the Storage Units - Anita saw the B&R Self Storage Company at 7777 Kelley Drive near Interstate 5. She gave the business card to Mel and he will look at the units and ask about their rates and security, etc.
On the Trustees Meeting - Mel said that the Agenda is not ready yet. He doesn't know if Dorothy Cordova or Joan May Cordova does this. He said we should plan for about 50 people. The local chapters, which are the hosts, include Stockton, Sacramento and Central Valley. Whichever Trustees confirm they are coming, Mel will send them a packet, which includes the Stockton Magazine and also, a map of hotels. Housing -Dawn Mabalon will try to get rates down. David Galbiso of New Mexico Chapter will stay with Mel. Assignment of Duties - not yet formalized. Food - Tipanan restaurant? The Arizona (Puerta Vallarta) next to the Filipino Plaza Center? Entertainment - Dawn Mabalon might talk to the Old Pinoys. Mel LaGasca's brother, Frank, might set up his sound system. Transportation - It was mentioned that Terri Torres has two vans.
A question was raised about our Chapter assessments. Mel answered that an assessment of $100.00 is divided into thirds - each of the following receives one-third: the National Archives, the National Museum and the Office of the Director.
