STOCKTON FANHS CHAPTER MEETING MINUTES
FOR JUNE 5, 2004

The meeting was called to order by Vice President, Anita Bautista at 10:05 am at Dameron Hospital Annex Room. (Conference Room B, Basement under renovation.) Other members present were Virginia Melear, Leatrice Perez, Moreno and Deanna Balantac, Donald Manalo, Frank Tibon, and Jerry Paular Sr.
A few moments of silence were held to remember Mrs. Camila Carido before the meeting started.
The minutes of May 1, 2004 were accepted as distributed.
Vice President, A. Bautista noted that President Mel LaGasca had another commitment in Tracy so would not be present today's meeting.
Treasurer V. Melear gave the following report:
Museum Bldg. CD $12, 085.89 Museum Equipt. CD $10, 089.54
Gen. Checking $8,057.88 Museum Checking $16,064,53 Gen. Savings $62.10
Received from "MyBarong.com" $30.00 check (10% from sale received from website).
Crab feed money from April event: received $2,559.45 and deposited in museum checking account.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Membership: No Report
Archives: No Report
Historians: Deanna and Moreno Balantac continue to receive photos of events and materials from members for placement in the scrapbook.
Exhibit: V. Melear shared comments from the Maya Angelou Library Exhibit which included pictures of the 40's and 50's -- "wonderful, very good exhibit, very nicely done!" She also reported that the display table at the Stockton Unified School District 'Asian Adventure" which was held at St Marks Plaza, District Office was well received. V. Navarro's dance troupe performed and D. Mabalon made a presentation during this event.
Other activities that FANHS participated in:
Lathrop Days in June featuring Filipino Families Navalta, Acoba- 1926-1982;
Sacramento FANHS Chapter meeting June 3, A. Bautista presented "The Filipino and ANTI-Miscegenation laws of California";
Mel LaGasca was guest speaker at the annual UOP/ Phi Delta Kappa Awards dinner May 20th
UPCOMING EVENTS:
Filipino Fiesta at Rizal Center, Sacramento, June 6th. A. Bautista is attending as a Sacramento FANHS member.
Filipiniania Fiesta, on June 10, in Hercules, California, the Exhibit committee attending will have a table with M. LaGasca, B. Cabigas, A. Bautista and V. Melear participating.
Bahala Na / Stockton FANHS museum fundraiser scheduled for August 2 21st was discussed and tickets $20 each were distributed to the members present to sell.
October 16th Recognition Award event: to date only one nomination has been received. Members were reminded to turn in nominations before the July I" deadline.
OLD BUSINESS:
M. LaGasca is still working on the insurance carrier contract for the August 21 and October 16th events; and continues to follow up with the Little Manila MOU details.
The September 25th, Family Get-together day planning is coming along and all the details are in place with the exception of insurance. There will be a meeting before the event for further discussion.
Joy Neas "Parol Project Plans" are involving the Filipino Plaza (F. Gatula, Social Services Coordinator)
NEW BUSINESS:
St. Louis Conference update and April 2004 "Generations" newsletter were discussed and distributed. D and M Balantac have made travel arrangements to attend from the Stockton Chapter. Several other members are considering going. Central Valley has several members planning to attend.
A Chapter Sympathy Card has been designed and approved by the executive committee for use and distribution.
The meeting was adjourned at 12: 00 noon.
