Mel LaGasca said he paid $35.00 for the cake, which he is donating. We need a report from Moreno & Deanna Balantac for the cost of the plaques.

Anita Bautista said that several commented on how the music was just right, not too loud and people could converse without shouting or having difficulty hearing each other. Anita also stated that the attendance was good and we should make it a habit to recognize all FANHS members representing various chapters at our events to stand and be recognized as was done at the awards luncheon. It was good to see so many that were present and that would cause non-members to question, “What is this organization that has so many members?” This might whet their curiosity and ask about joining. Comments on the food were also very positive. A “thank you” letter will be sent to Frank LaGasca for donating his time and music for the event.

Education/Exhibit – Anita Bautista reported that the documentary by KVIE on “Little Manila—Filipinos in America’s Heartland” was shown at the Chavez Library on Oct. 6 with about 20 people in attendance, and at the Troke Library on October 22, with about 30 people in attendance. The documentary was also shown in Sacramento and it was well attended with Anita, Angelina Novelozo and Jimmy Ente there for a panel discussion.

The chapter will be displaying an exhibit of Filipino American Authors in November at the Manteca Library and WWII Filipino veterans at the Tracy library during December “Remember Pearl Harbor”. Leatrice Perez mentioned that her brother, Anastacio Bantillo, Jr. was in the U.S. Navy and also the Reverend Maurice B. S. Legare was a Chaplain in the U.S. Army. Anita asked her to get their pictures to her soon.

Anita and Terri Torres attended the UOP Kilusan group annual Barrio Fiesta on Nov. 2nd and had a FANHS display table with pamphlets and photo boards. They were available to answer questions by the students as well as asking them questions about Filipino-American history. They also brought the PBS video to be shown. It was an eye-opener to discover how little these young people knew about our Fil-Am history.

Last month we had voted to send $25 to the Kilusan to pay for an advertisement in their annual High School Games program for Oct. 16, but Terri never received any response back from Kilusan when asked for verification of type of advertisement and who to send it to, so a check was never sent.

Historians---Moreno and Deanna Balantac were absent, but Terri mentioned that anyone having photographs of any FANHS events, to always remember to give a copy to our Historians for the archives.
