FYI's
Hey Fanny Pack - Greetings from Vermont.......
I've been
pretty quiet since I pulled off the planning of the ALDHA 99 Gathering in
Hanover and thought I would send you and others a short note on some of
Manchester, VT and other info - for people to update and make notes in their
guidebooks.
Manchester Vermont - The Quality Restaraunt has closed
forever. A very hiker friendly business in such a tourist town. For many
years gave 20% discounts to hikers. Many of you may have had a HEARTY breakfast
there before heading back to the trail. To refresh anyones memory - it was the
only diner atmosphere in Manchester just 2 or 3 doors up from Ben & Jerrys
heading toward the hostel. And speaking of the Hostel... there was a meeting
held last month concerning a relocation of the hostel from the church for the
2000 season. I will get back to you with the outcome. There is one other note.
Another Diner has opened and should be relatively surprised with hiker business.
Its location is on Rt. 11 & 30. Mid way between town and the trail
crossing.
I have been in quite frequent contact with Wolf (aka Kieth
Kimball AT 89-91, 90, 92-94, 94) via phone and ICQ. He misses everyone very much
and especially the trail community. He is hoping to hit trail daze 2000 - which
would be a nice surprise that is if the Army allows him to. Other than than he
says Hawaii is warm - unlike Vermont! If anyone would like any other info on
Wolf or would like to get in contact with him - feel free to send me along a
line. I have told him to check out FP's web site.
And finally send a long
a message to Mr. Clean - if by chance he should hit Vermont and I am not on the
trail yet - He is welcome to trail support as well as a place to stay both
Rainman and I are around for at least a couple of months. (Oh yeah I will not be
running hiker shuttles out of Manchester this coming season - I will be on the
trail!)
Happy Trails All!
