Who are they?
Andy Grant, Jon Bara, Anthony Dawkins, Ricki Rae and Pete Robinson
Based in:
Melbourne
Where you've seen them:
The band recently toured the country with Midnight Oil and Diesel.
"It was an incredible experience," Andy says.
"They've been doing it 25 years, so it was a big learning experience
for us. We wrote heaps of songs, too, most of them inspired by just being
moved by those guys."
Background:
The band started in 1999, scored a record deal and released a single called
'Everything Is Green'.
"Then we got dropped by our record company," Andy groans.
"But, never mind, that gave us the fuel to record and release our own
independent EP. We had a launch party at a pub down in Melbourne, Zomba Records
came along, and were inspired and excited by us. It was a great night. We
signed with them, started recording and here we are....in a nutshell!"
On being with the same label
as Britney Spears and Justin TImberlake:
"It's all about profit really," Andy says.
"To have such massive international artists floating the boat, I have
no problem with.
Zomba also has (US rockers) Tool on the books!"
2003 dreams:
"The plan is to hopefully find an international touring act, who'll come
out for two or three weeks, so we can get to play some big rooms and reach
an audience quickly," Andy says.
"It would then be great to do our own show."
CD:
Sneak's debut album 'Still Life Moving' is out now.
"If a lot of people go out and buy it, I'll be absolutely delighted and
surprised," Andy says.
"But we're just looking to keep it bubbling away and just to keep playing
some shows."
